Description
Another 'two-faced' portrait of my half-drow
Usually I'm not much into this kind of portraits, 'cause it's too time-consuming. But I was feeling masochistic today
Thus even added several restrictions to myself:
1. no smudging, just good-old cross-hatch (needn't forget it )
2. no erasing, only in the end to strengthen the highlights

man, it's hard making realistic portrait of a non-existing person. Used about dosens of references, but mostly for shading.

Adele 'Del' Farlong (NWN2 DnD character) wholly and partially belongs solely to me.

A4 coated paper (...Never. Again...), 3H, B, 2B, 3B, 5B, 6B pencils, two coloured ones for eyes.

Well, I used reference for shading and hair, but her facial features are from my head only

Это от папы досталось, который был дроу Генетически у неё сохранилось термозрение в темноте, что и проявляется сими красными зрачками

This is awesome! I was thinking of attempting to draw a drow but realised after years of using a reference, I can't not use for a drawing! so I gave up fairly quickly

TheWildGrape In reply to Kaos-chosen [2011-07-31 19:29:21 +0000 UTC]

References are addictive
Hm, maybe I'll draw a pure-blood drow sometimes - but it kinda scares how much pencil work colour of their face would take

Indeed I still have a ton of things I want to do before taking on more projects though so I'll give that one a miss for now!

If you do ever do one, feel free to post a link on my profilepage if you wanted to.

You know - some day I'd really love to see some work-in-progres-pieces of your art. It's not, that I ever will learn to draw from watching you - to do so I'm far too stupid and to lazy.
It's just ... well, I'm nosey.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheWildGrape In reply to shoughad [2011-07-24 12:56:55 +0000 UTC]

Hm, maybe
I actually thought about making some WIPs - but I prefer drawing fast, without interrupting on scanning and so on, thus tend to forget that I wanted to scan 'progress' and only remember about it when it's almost done It's alsways like 'Oh, bugger... Oh well, another time, then'

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shoughad In reply to TheWildGrape [2011-07-24 13:04:29 +0000 UTC]

You are right. I haven't thought about it well enogh. Another point, which sometimes is too easy for us digital "tricksters" - we only need to hit the "print"-button for a screenshot. You have to interrupt the whole flow of work to walk to the scanner ... Oh sh*t!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheWildGrape In reply to shoughad [2011-07-24 13:06:43 +0000 UTC]

Well, I do have these two unfinished pieces in the gallery - [link] [link] with visible sketchlines and partly-done shading, so, I guess, they can give an idea of how my work looks like somewhere in the middle of making
