Harry had held his hands out, spread invitingly. He had smiled, twinkled his green eyes so perfectly, that even the master of emotions could not sense what was later found to be lieing within.

He didn't know how long he had spent around the boy before he allowed himself to acknowledge, to either of them, that he was no longer feeling platonic about his new partner in dark-lording.

His death eaters had tried to warn him about the changes, that the boy was still being puppeteered by Dumbledore, that he was being wrapped around the boy's pinkie and brought to his knees.

He should have listened.

He would later regret having let the boy in, regret allowing himself to be manipulated so. Then again, it wasn't the first time he had been manipulated to change so drastically.
And the boy had been taught by the master of manipulation.

He had Smiled as he dropped the bag of destroyed hocruxes at Dumbledore's feet, turned back to face the Lord, and smirked.

In that moment, Tom had realized he was the master of no emotions, and summoned a wave of anger to cover the heart he didn't want to feel shattering.

He ignored the odd glint in Harry's eyes and smile, and had shot the killing curse once more, finishing off the last thing keeping him tied to earth.

And after Harry came back and picked up his wand, used the killing curse himself once more, he was not around to see the boy sit and cry.

Both wished they had kept to the road of war rather then manipulation.
Both had only wanted to do what they thought was right.

But in the end, both fell.
