I can not express how excited and happy I am ya'll loved my tiger concepts so I'm so excited to do more! And what a fun way to follow up than with some classic fantasy dire wolves?
Now here's a fun fact about some animals in the world... Since humans and elves are considered kinda on equal grounds in terms of creation, animals in the world reflect that! There are some animals in the world that have the opposite colors than their real life counterparts and green blood in their veins. Many canines fall under this group, not all, but many.

Small disclaimer: While these animals have a basis in reality, they do exist in a fantasy world and should be treated as such. Everything I'm describing is NOT a research paper on the real animal, I mean the world has dinosaurs and foxes on the same continent, so please don't try to educate me on where and how a specific animal lives, chances are I already know. It's just a fantasy world. That also being said, do NOT use any info here as factual. My fantasy world is not national geographic so I would encourage you not to use these studies as a research source, it's purely for my own fun.

Animals in The Heavens' Proxies
The world of gaia reflects many similar species as we might see them in real life, but other than some visual and habitual similarities, that's where they end. Most all creatures have some sort of fantastical twist. Unusual horns, colors, teeth, maybe extra limbs, all sorts! Even dinosaurs walk in certain areas of the world! And all sentient creatures have some sort of relationship to the animals in their environments. From royal families having many diverse pets to mermaids bonding with dolphins for hunting, animals are just as present in the world as the sentient creatures and there are wide ranges of domesticated creatures.

The Sacred Animals
In the 8 human and elven kingdoms, each kingdom holds a certain species to a sacred and almost holy status. Whether these traditions remain by religious belief or simply a status, these 8 sacred animals in all kingdoms can only be owned by royalty, whether you're the king of a city or the whole country, if you're not considered the rank of royalty or closely related to royalty, it is illegal to own these animals, unless of course they are gifted to you, something considered a very big deal. The humans regard felines as creatures of the sun while elves consider canines creatures of the moon, meaning in all respective nations, even if you can own a red fox or a ocelot (creatures who aren't SPECIFICALLY labeled as a "sacred animal") in their respective human or elven nation, abuse or mistreatment of these animals can be a capital offense. Cats and dogs in this world also share a common trait, saber teeth.

Dire Wolves
Dire wolves are the sacred animals of the northeast elven kingdom, ruling the tundra with their huge size and their pack instincts. Living in the cold environments where they have mild summers and heavy winters, the dire wolves have a similar genetic trait to many tundra creatures. When temperatures get below a certain level, dire wolves' natural, usually darker fur, with shed as it's overtaken by a thicker, snow white coat of fur. Dire wolves, like all other canines, are very social beasts and can travel in huge packs across the north and eastern areas. A domesticated wolf often looks much much smaller and more vibrant blue.

Silver wolves are often the more mountainous and northern wolves. Being a bit sleeker and built to chase rabbits and birds, often they live in areas where it's cold enough for patches of snow, but not cold enough to need a full white coat of fur. To make up for this, as well as to blend more into rocks than trees, their coat in the summer is still rather pale and thick.

Dainty or fancy wolves are a breed often popular among many elven queens are often seen as almost cat-like compared to most wolves. They're popular for their unique tufts of fur and color variety. They tend to be much more petite and have a long breeding history.

Lion wolves are a unique and famous type of wolf commonly seen more south, often hunting in the eastern region. Both male and female lion wolves have evolved bold, dark manes and much more muscular builds. They resemble lion behavior in many ways, and it's believed they evolved this way to rival the lions they often cross paths with.

Royal wolves, the coloration being referred to as "night blue", are wolves with distant genes from the mighty lion wolves. They often have more of a Mohawk than a full mane, often bred to have shorter body fur to exaggerate their Mohawks. While Royal wolves is the term reserved for wolves with mohawks or manes, night blue is the term for the rich blue color. They're often used interchangeably since both traits are often present on the same wolves.
