I did the exact same thing, I even bought the DVD collection when I finally found it at work.
Probably my favorite modern cartoon, mostly because it has an ending and a planned storyline that doesn't meander for ages past it's due date.

Hmmm. i must confess i never watched Gravity Falls.. nor any of these newer cartoons, like Steven Universe or Star vs the Forces of Evil, is it good?

Gravity Falls and Steven Universe are great cartoons. Well the art style may be a bit weird at first, but the longer you watch, the more you get into the cartoon and it's story lore and you wanna just see more of it.

Ikr?? I didn't get into it until it was over and when I finally watched it on Hulu and it ended I was in such a loop of "WHY DID THEY NOT MAKE MORE?? THEY COULD HAVE GONE ON SO MANY NEW ADVENTURES!! D8". It really felt like the show closed, but felt as though it was to open a new chapter to the series but they just up and canceled it!!

Mabel: Don't be a stick in the mud and have some fun and take a drink
Bounce sound effect is hear and Mabel bounce off with happy look on her face
Dipper shrug and said well if you can't beat them that join them and drink too and bounce after his sister
