if you lived there, you would make enough to afford it.

you tried a lot to bring all the aspects in this image...
if you were able to find a higher ground you would've done some wonders.
good timing with the clouds though!

Aw man...I had limited options to say the least...Tripod height: 8 inches, max. Lost (or misplaced for a while) my mounting plate for my Gitzo so had to compose and everything with this dinky little thing sitting on the ground. Even had to lean the tripod a bit so it could support the weight of my cam without wrapping the legs around something.

Yeah, and I still need to see those darned mountains. I've been to Alberta 4 times and never seen mountains, how did I manage that?!

depends on your definition of "not many". Mosquitos fly here to LA from Alaska just to bite me! lol For me - ONE is too many. For some reason, other than my gf, I am the one who gets bitten.

I should post in on DA with the artist comment,"I often get asked if I have sex with my models. Certainly NOT!!!"
LOL

My year and a half stay in Yellowknife was so-so, this was the early '90's.
Our arrival started with a 5 night stay in Hay River in a completely empty 200+ room hotel because the road wasn't frozen over yet. One of our employers ended up hiring a helicopter to fly us, and all of our stuff, in to YK.
I got laid off right away, nice, and couldn't find work. Luckily I had some acquaintances who were setting up an oxygen plant there and gathered up some work. We had over a week of -50c during the first few weeks of setting up the plant, which involved lots of outdoor work. Had to use a Herman Nelson to heat the truck and snowmobile so we could get to work. But needed that occasionally in Whitehorse. Still, it was unexpected for the first few weeks there
Got a job managing Bodyworks Fitness, whew, indoor work, very nice! lol. It was a cool place to work, lots of active people to do things with. But, not much exploring of the area. It would be nice to get up there again and do some proper exploring.
All that said Thomas... I love seeing your shots of the area, which I think you know
