I find the swastika should censor. This is a symbol of death and hell.

I love Iron Crosses they are so cool... I have a kind of necklace with one made of steel placed over a circle of the same material...

I like the angle and the light of the phtography, very nice.

Very nice photo, my friend. I hope to get an iron cross myself (WWI though without the swatstika) since I love German history so much. But still, the lighting is perfect as is the angle as I'm sure you've heard quite a few times. But that's because it's obviously true, eh? Very nicely done.

I would prefer a WWI on myself. I like Imperial Germany history.

Cool pic, with a nice angle, however dispite what others may have commented, what you have in that picture (I asume its yourse and therefore you might be interested) is a WWII iorn cross second class.

I note one of the prevous comments on youre photo stated that it was possibly a nights cross (the highset medel awarded by the germans in the second world war) because of the ribon arangment, however this is not true. Bolth medels would have had the same ribon arangment, the diffrence being that the iron cross ribons were often cut down to be placed on a tunic, rather than worn around the neck like a nights cross. Obvously its WWII because of the date and ribon colloring, and we can tell it is second class iron cross because it has a ribon on it rather then the pin a first class would have had. (on a side note, if you ever do find a real nights cross, they are very rare, and worth a near fortune)

Hope I've been of some help (if you can desifer my spelling) -Palmer

I went through a phase where i collected WW2 things. Especially German. I bought German helmets, dog-tags (from Stalingrad), but sadly the original iron crosses were too expensive

How much does an WWII Iron cross run price wise around were you are?

Wow! What a simple but stunning shot. It’s looks very well planned out. I like how the medal is off to the side a bit and not in the centre. Great perspective and lighting to. This is a very powerful image. My great grandfather was in the German army during WW2 but he luckily escaped, thankfully, to Canada. He knew Hitler was no good and that the war would lead to ruin! It didn't work out so well for others in my family though. War is never a good thing!

ahhh that is really interesting that your great grand dad was German. I really love any thing historical, especially WW2.
Thank you for your lovely compliments once again

Your welcome. Same here, I love old things...which sounds weird, doesn't it? lol But I love to look at old photographs of my family and objects and such. I guess it's why I want to be an archaeologist, the past interests me and I respect it. I also love to here war stories from my grandpa. Some pretty funny ones...and sad ones.

Alright its a nice shot but im going to have to correct you on your comment, The Iron Cross was indeed a German Army medal, but you are wrong based on the following points:
The medal pictured is Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, you can tell because of the way it is attached to the ribbon. Although the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross and the Iron Cross are similar, the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross is a higher medal so to speak, the order starts with Iron Cross 2nd Class - Iron Cross 1st Class - Knights Cross of the Iron Cross (5 variations) - Grand Cross of the Iron Cross and then Star of the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross, note this medal was never awarded.
Although on the other hand you may be correct, it is hard to tell by the picture, the medal could also be the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross, in that case it would have silver edging as apposed to gold and it would be 63mm as apposed to about 44 mm for the Iron Cross and 48.5 mm for the Knight's Cross.

Sorry to have a go, Nazi Germany just happens to be one of my pet topics, lol I may be wrong somewhere in there but I think you get the point.

Thankyou

no problem mate!
no i thought it was probably the knights cross, but then i thought i better just call it "the Iron cross" as my friends would understand it better. lol Nazi Germany also happens to be my pet topic. I bought this little baby from London. I've also collected some other cool things e.g. dog tags from Stalingrad, romanian dog tags, German helmet from Spain and a french helmet.
