Description
Alora is seen here practicing a traditional Sidonia dance. In all the Sidonians have very little things men and women do separately in a distinct gender norm. Dancing to simple music is one of them. The men play instruments and the women dance to the music. Given the gypsy like status the Sidonians they managed to pick up a few dance moves from the Roma Gypsies of old Eastern Europe.
When the Sidonia was first colonized electricity was precious so watching old DVDs was not an entertainment option. Movie theaters and production companies to make films like Max Alpha would be nonexistent for almost 50 years. To prevent boredom around the campfire when stories got old the colonist men picked up their instruments and the women began to dance. Depending on the situation the dances can be cheerful, or purely erotic. Alora is a Qualurian who married a Sidonian as such she has done her best to fit in culturally. Despite Sidonia's elevated technological level the people keep the camp dances alive. In every generation mother to daughter the dances remain something parents are fiercely protected from any detractors. On Colonization Day Sidonian streets will be filled by families competing to see whose dance will be best.
Art by KitsuNeka-san I am not sure who I had the conversation with over the gorgeous dance styles of Gypsies of Eastern Europe.
