Here is the maxed out version of the MGS weighing in at 45 tons due to the bolt on spaced armor. The original unit stood at 35 tons with such a light weight firing system. The M315 was designed to provide heavier fire power than the 30mm auto cannon of the IFV variant. Its 120mm Light Gas Gun can hit harder than a standard 120mm cannon found on tanks like the M1A1 or Leopard 2A7 50% more powerful in fact. In contrast to a 60mm LGG on the M9 Lee the 120mm cannon has a full 100% increase in penetration with recoil easily handled by the plastic composite vehicle. The Defender MGS has a rather popular place in colony defense forces as it can bring tank like firepower to a problem with out the price tag or complexity of a M10 tank. The smaller 120mm cannon also comes with a higher elevation letting the vehicle function as an indirect mortar system. The down side is that it lacks the heavy armor needed to do heavy engagements. Bolt on specialist armor rectifies this problem but makes M315 unit weighs the exact same weight as a full protected M9 Lee a solid 45tons. The up armored M315 can fight like many 21st century medium tanks like the Type 10 or a slightly more capable AMX-10RCR. The RAE fully armored M315 is a low cost alternative to much more costly tanks. The up armored M315 is sporting Naval Infantry digital camouflage patterns.
