The organic and eerie shapes of the vessels along with this bright and clean colour scheme give it a very distant future feel, more distant than the scenery you see in most other futuristic art actually, definetily evoke sthat surreal feel to it

Yea my art had a strong surreal aesthetic to it back in those times..Something that maybe had lost itself on my journey to become a better more refined illustrator.

Thanks muchly frolix, I remember being quite proud of myself with this effort. It was a break in tradition with using dark overtones ('under' may sound better actually) in my work.

This is a great piece, Marley. I really like the perspective of the clouds, how they seem to zoom off into the distance. The colour work in this is really top-notch as well! A really imaginative concept of renewal in a contest full of phoenixes.

oh wow, this larger version is much better! details are much easier to see - darn 700pixel wide rule

yea your right rachel and epi even blurs the image. but you know despite all that negative aspect.i still get 86 hits a day for my gallery.and i posted two months back

its a concept that never really fell into place until halfway through the painting or more toward the end when i painted the face in the cloud.sometimes i don't even get the concept until the piece is well and truly finished hahaha
