this is for my sis
she said she wanted to be a geisha.
so i made her one.she loves pink and swirls so the idea of all the colours was based from her.
the depiction of the geisha here was taken from her gallery dancing series.
special thanks to her for letting me use it.
vector done in Photoshop using pen tool.

i finished reading Memoirs of a Geisha not too long ago.
and I just bought a book called Geisha, A Life (which is a real memoir) and i just started reading that.
but i've always thought of geishas as exotic and beautiful...
this is a really nice piece. i love the pink, and the composition, and the flower in the hair. but for some reason i really love the lips. wows.

i think the lips are awesome! makes it look much more exotic, and well... whenever lips were actually painted like that, it looked odd, so its bound to look odd in a piece of art, too! but in a good way. i really like those lips!
and yeah, i've been thinking about painting a geisha myself... its very tempting! have you heard about the movie coming out? i wonder if it will be any good...

just noticed that on my tft i couldnt see the side of the lips....u have it done in very light pink, does it not look good in red or soemthing? is that why u did that?

geisha's supposed to have white lips actually, except for the red heart-shaped part in the middle which is painted with deep red. that's why the lips looked that way.

in this it looks like she is 'stuck up', lips are tight together.....but in the original they're not - know what i mean? i dont know if this was the effect you was going for....
but i think you should include all her lips in the edit, not just the main bit......you get me?
