Haha, I adore Seth Green! Great picture of the character while retaining the look of the inspiration.

I don't know how I got saddled into seeing it, but I ended up seeing Old Dogs in the theatre a few years back and while it was mildly funny in my opinion, Seth Green made the movie.

I'm a Seth Green fan too. I'm currently more familiar with his voiceover work than his live-action stuff, but he'll always be "Oz from Buffy" to the people in my family.

Never seen Old Dogs. You think it's worth checking out?

Buffy! I haven't seen that since I was a kid I smell a Buffy marathon over the winter.

Old Dogs was meh. I thought it'd be ALOT funnier since Robin Williams is in it but its a generic old-guys-gotta-keep-up-with-little-kids story. It was mildy funny. Seth Green played the best character in a supporting role. John Travolta was alright as the once-a-ladies-man kinda guy but I guess there's only so many jokes you can get away with to stay within a PG rating. If you're bored for an afternoon you could check it out but I wouldn't totally reccommend it unless there's kids around. They might think its funny

Haha. Buffy was pretty integral to my childhood/adolescence. Did you ever watch Angel?

Maybe if Old Dogs ever runs on cable or something, I'll catch it then. I have a bad habit of flipping channels, finding something really dumb on cable and then sitting there for the next two hours even though I know it's a waste of time.

No, I never did see Angel. I think I was at some kind of sports thing in the evenings at that time in my life so I missed it and never caught re-runs. Didn't it only last a year or two? Was it a good continuation/spinoff, because I can always tack that onto the end of my winter-Buffy-thon!

Haha, same here- especially my mom! She does it all the time, even just to have something playing in the background when she's cooking/cleaning/knitting/whatevs. She's always gotta stop and watch The Grudge though haha, its one of her "cheesy favourites" (with Sarak Michelle Gellar, ironically).

I loved Angel. Some of it can probably be chalked up to the fact that I was a little older when I watched the spinoff, so I got more out of it. I'd even go so far as to say that I liked Angel better. It definitely had the Buffy-universe's trademark humor, but it was more modern-noir than its predecessor. If Buffy was about growing up and adolescence, Angel was about becoming an adult. (And there's everything you didn't want to know. )

Lol. Glad I'm not alone. There are some movies that I've seen more times that I can remember just because I stop to watch them on cable. And I always randomly tune in at the same point in the movie.

I love the sounds of that, haha I'll definitely be finding Angel to watch over the winter then!

Definitely not the only one on that front, no worries. Sometimes there's two that we like on at the same time and if the commercials play at opposite times that we can watch one movie while commercials play during the other and switch

I'm so amazed at how you can take a person and make it look so much like them! Just amazing!! I love his hair! I am particularly fond of red hair!

Thanks! I feel the same way about red hair as I do about brown eyes (like we were talking about). Doesn't get enough love.

really great though I think the skin my be a bit too smooth. I know it is probably nitpickey but if you roughen it up a bit add some little unshaved fuzz on the chin area, and some pores here and there. don't get me wrong I always love your pieces just a few ideas. the hair and shirt look awesome, and I think you did great on the eyes.

ThreshTheSky In reply to I-is-smart [2012-11-01 09:13:46 +0000 UTC]

I do skin texturing on some of my paintings, but most people who commission me opt for a realistic but not "photo"-realisitc option. Details like that take me a long time, so I ask extra for them.

Thanks for the feedback!

mirz333 In reply to ThreshTheSky [2012-11-01 09:18:30 +0000 UTC]

That's interesting. To me, I just assumed that each piece was meant to look a bit "airbrushed" since that is what you mostly get in magazines and such these days. Though, I think I prefer that, unless I'm specifically looking for something uber-realistic, or rather "gritty."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThreshTheSky In reply to mirz333 [2012-11-01 09:23:40 +0000 UTC]

The airbrushed look is what I usually prefer. Or at least it seems to be my default "style." But I do try to push myself by doing a hyper-realistic painting here and there (like the one I did of Liam Neeson or Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean). Truth be told, skin texturing is something that's still tough for me to pull off and it takes a long time. So I don't use it for commissions unless someone specifically requests it.

Insomnia's not good, but it's more tolerable when I wake up to find one or your commissions in my in-box.

Thank you soooo much. I know my commissions have given you a bit of trouble lately (I think my characters have been mad at me and giving everyone a hard time). That said, I really do love this. Though, obviously, this is heavily based on Seth Green, you made him look like he's playing the role of Andy, which is great. You can very much see there is something up his sleeve.

Artwise, I love the shirt you did. Plain, unassuming. The hair looks tousled and soft. And that smirk is pure love. LOL.

Continued thanks, my friend. I so appreciate your work.

"Insomnia's not good, but it's more tolerable..."

Lol! That's why I'm up right now too. XD

Don't worry about it. Some characters just come easier than others. I always think it's interesting how even on the paintings that I make for my own enjoyment, some just about fall out of my head and are finished in one sitting. Others tire/frustrate me and sit unfinished for months.

And you're welcome! I'm glad you like the way he came out. Working on these with you is always awesome, even when it's a character that's being stubborn.
