Description Thought I would post this and get some late feedback from everyone. This is my entry for this year's Stencyl Jam. This version is not finished as I am still working on the ending sequence but most of the game is there. So give it a try and let me know what you think or if you find any bugs or glitches. I already know of some glitches but there isn't much I can do to fix them.

All looks fairly good.  The style has been very strong since you started the project, and the music is no exception.  However, I have noticed a couple of things:

First, it's easy to jump over the speech events, thereby bypassing dialogue.  I actually didn't realize the villagers were trying to speak to me until I accidentally landed in the right place while moving from A to B.   Now in a game like this, that might not matter tremendously, but I thought it bore mentioning.

Second, I believe I have found a glitch: while playing through the third or fourth level, I fell into a spike pit only to insta-move into some pygmies upon respawn because I'd been holding down the directional button like an idiot.  That's not the problem.  The problem is that when I died that second time immediately after coming back into the world, the game flickered momentarily, then just sat there playing animations and music without actually respawning Kroma in the room.  It continues even as I type.

Minor issues aside, though, I really like how this game is shaping up, and I'd say you've made a ton of progress since you first posted this one way back when.  I look forward to seeing future developments.

Thanks. This is actually a different project from the other Kroma game. Haha. This one was made using 3.0 instead of 2.x like the other one so I had to completely rebuild everything. Some things work better now while other things just don't work at all (such as water effects). So this is just a short game (really short) just for the Stencyl Jam. The story in this game takes place right before the other game and explains why things happen in the next story. So it is basically a short intro to the series.

After playing it a few times, I realized I should have made the regions for the speech bubbles much higher so you couldn't jump past them. Haha

I am getting several people mentioning that glitch over at Newgrounds but I believe it is a glitch with Stencyl itself. I have tried a couple things to try and fix it but nothing works. I think it has something to do with the transitions. So if you die before that has a chance to finish then the game gets confused and bugs out. I will have to try an completely different approach to scene transitions in future games.

Ah, so it is a different one then.  I thought it seemed like quite a change.  Re: the reloading glitch, that's a shame.  You'd think they wouldn't have overlooked a thing like that with a piece of proprietary software...Either way, though, this project looks great as is.  I look forward to seeing more games from you.

No matter what I tried, I just couldn't get rid of that glitch. It could very well just be something I am doing wrong but to avoid the glitch I removed some of the obstacles that one would hit before the scene would reload. So hopefully that will not be an issue now. The "completed" game is no up on Newgrounds if you would like to check it out. It is still nowhere near the game I actually wanted to make but given that I had a tight deadline, I was forced to remove a lot of features from the game.

Cool.  I've played through it; no errors this time.  Nice work, especially considering the limited time frame.

Thanks. The next one will have all of the features I really wanted to have in this one. So there will be shooting and swimming and bosses to fight and a lot more levels and characters instead of just a few obstacles to avoid.
