Description This is my half of an art trade with ~ Horse-Pony , who wanted me to draw an Arabian horse in return for a palomino. I'm afraid I chickened out on the body, too, and I really couldn't draw the mane *at all* so just gave up in the end. It looks terrible! I don't think I blended at all in this picture, at least not with my fingers or anything like I normally do. It was all pencil strokes and eraser for mistakes. I'm not sure that worked especially well or not.

Anyway - ~Horse-Pony , this is a Shagya Arab for you! It was very fun doing a trade with you!

Thanks so much! This way was more fun too I think, less controlled! I'm glad you like!

The face needs to be a bit more dished, since that's one of the Arab's most distinguishing features. The nose also seems a little bit too big, because they also have very fine noses as well. The detail on this is amazing though, especially the eye and the veins.

Yeah, you're right! It doesn't look particularly traditionally arab-like. The forelock hair-ness kinda gets in the way as well, why can't horses just be bald?! Anyway, thank you for a great comment- and I'm glad you noticed the detail, I went a bit crazeh with the eye. Horse eyes are just so beautiful!

I know exactly what you mean. My family's always had horses around. In fact, we've got a little Arab, which is why I knew what to look for. You should do more.

I'm so jealous! I've loved horses since those first My Little Ponies () but I live right in London - not much space for horses, unfortunately! Aaaww! You have an arab! They're so PRETTY! The supermodels of horse-kind, surely. I hope I will do more, though I haven't done a serious pencil drawing for aaages. Perhaps I can draw yours!

You totally get back at me by living in London. I love London and miss it so. Last year I visited for a week or so and was based mostly near King's Cross. But goodness, I could live at the British Museum for a full year and never be unhappy. *sigh* And hey, maybe I should just draw you mine?

Haha, I'd gladly swap! We do have rather nice snippets of history, but the pollution, greyness and endless freaking tourist traps gets a bit tiresome *bangs head against the Millenium Dome*
I think the British Museum is one of those places where I could get hopelessly lost and really not care very much about it. :nods: You like history?

I loooooove history. Especially egyptology. When I saw the Rosetta Stone, I very nearly died. That's how excited I was. You do as well?

You have some really amazing pieces here. You are very talented! The only thing about this is the mane, like you said, tho it's very far from terrible! It's good, but not as good as the rest of the pic. I have the same problem with hair, it's such a pain! Great job tho! :claps:

Thank you so much for the great comment! I'm glad you see the mane thing, too - and I'm so happy to have found another hair-hater. It has now overtaken hands on my ever-growing 'awkward things that should disappear' list.

You know, I might just do that. You have *the best* ideas! Next on the list: a bald person!

Hell, don't you start! *slips some instant ego-boost into your coffee* Your art rocks, you rock, everything rocks! *blink* Well, you know what I mean. Yeah, art trades are pretty interesting. As soon as my exams are over, I'm gonna go do a load more. Good for bonding and all that crap.

You are so welcome, Lucy!! Thank you so much for the great compliment....but I do want to get back to my roots...doing what I used to do best...in addition to digital art! My best stuff used to be on paper with pencil!

Well...you and a few others have inspired me to give it a go!! Just need to buy some decent paper now...I will when we go on vacation next week....we are in too small of a town where I live now..no art stores at all!! lol Thank you so much, sweetie!!

tigerzi In reply to chucksgal [2004-05-09 17:50:38 +0000 UTC]

No art stores! Ah, I'd never be able to survive! Have a good time on your vacation - I'll be expecting loads of bautiful pencil sketches when you get back!

Yeah, isn't that the worst!!? I am not doing well with it either! I am sure I will sweetie, thank you! WELLL...I gotta figure out how to get them into my 'puter to be uploaded first....no scanner, no camera!!

tigerzi In reply to chucksgal [2004-05-10 13:36:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, that sucks! No digital camera or scanner... Hhm, I can't think of a way round that. Seems I may have to wait awhile! Oh well, I'll survive - you go have a good time and get back into the traditional media 'zone'.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chucksgal In reply to tigerzi [2004-05-10 18:20:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it really does suck!! I can't think of a way around it either, hopefully will be at least getting a scanner when we can afford it, scanners are cheaper than digicams, I think..at least the good ones. Sorry about that! Thank you so much!!
