Description
I've been itching to do a funeral-inspired piece for a while nowand that itch has finally manifested as something finished.
Struggled a bit with the final composition but the lovely people
following me on tumblr helped me through. c-:

I've actually read the first few volumes of it - that was maybe three, four years ago.
Can't remember for the life of me why I stopped.
Anyhow, I have bit of complex with fanart. I don't do it much and the few times I have,Β I haven't been too happy with the results.
Fanart of non-visual media stuff (like books) is a bit easier for me to approach, but I'm pretty much scared shitless if there's visual canon to go by as well. P-:

This is really amazing, you really captured the look of "death" in general. His whole body is so pale and lifeless and I just love the flush of color (the red) It makes me want to know what happened to him

No, I don't think they were. I added the fifth flower because
it was suggested multiple times (and it was a really good idea)
and then added the fifth pair shoes because I just have a
huge thing for symmetry... c-:

This is wonderful! I love the perspective with all the pairs of identical shoes scattered around the dead/dying boy. Leaves a dark & serious tone and generic yet powerful mystery men to be imagined and somehow what you don't show (not being able to see the man's faces, not knowing why the boy is dead) makes it all the more creepy. Maybe this is off-topic but something about his deep, dark eyes and pale straight sloping brows reminds me a lot of classical paintings of young women, yet his face is so waxy and smooth, it's like a mask. Love the contrast between the colors and forms of the flowers and the rest of the picture. I would love to know the story behind this. Well done, Tiia!

I've always agreed with the common notion that what you
don't tell in a story is just as, if now more, important as what
you tell.Β Especially in the horror genre, the build-up when
you don't exactly know what happening is usually scarier
than the parts with an identified threat or monster...
