I've had to walk outside to the outhouse in freezing weather myself, but this one is just too close to the house I think

I wonder if the well is downhill from the outhouse. I'd be drinking bottled water.

....not to mention being a bit more drafty than one might like, especially in the middle of winter. In the middle of winter, I can remember holding on as long as humanly possible just praying someone else would have to go first so the seat would be warmed up.

Must say that the outhouse I used as a child visiting my grandfather and grandmother had a lot more green lush vegetation behind it... Wonder why?
I also remember them always having only newspapers in there... and not for reading

We used red and white corn cobs. You would use a red corn cob, and then a white corn. That way you could tell if you needed to use another red corn cob
