My first big break in comics came just before the turn of the century/millennium. I had produced a couple of small press, black & white, creator-owned comic book series with my friend J. Torres , all the while sending copies of those comics to various editors at bigger publishers in the hopes of catching someone's attention. After receiving numerous rejection letters, I finally got lucky when Darren Vincenzo, editor of the DC Comics series Batman: Gotham Adventures, contacted me because he needed a fill-in artist for one issue. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, and that one issue led to another, and another, until I eventually took over as the main artist on the series. It was a dream come true for me, it jumpstarted my comics career, and I got to work with some amazing people, including the wonderfully talented Scott Peterson , who took over writing B:GA at the same time I began drawing it.

Geez, you'd think Ivy would know more about basic botany
