Description
Above in display, the silvereye boomerang shark (Rhabdopterus dimorphodonta), the most widespread and common member of the Rhabdopteridae family. The group's sister taxa is belived to be the Triakids.
Boomerang sharks are a major seasonal predator of tiamats in their tuna stage, also feeding on lanternfish and seabirds during most of the year.
The pectoral fins are the shark's primary hunting tool, as it uses them to dispatch fish into small shoals and to stun them in an analogous manner to Anthropocene Alopiids.
This species is present from the Caribbean to the golf of Guinea and from the North pole to Ascension island, the core of their population is present within these borders,
yet smaller and scattered populations are present on the the North american cost and in the Californian island's immidiate proximity. This taxa also counts another species, known as the Goldeye boomerang shark (Rhabdopterus helioculus), smaller than its relative, roughly human sized. Its range is more restricted, only being found in the Rift sea, the Red sea and south of the Mozambique canal. Due to its smaller size, the goldeye is unable to hint down tiamats.
