Based of the Imperial I/II series  of Star Destroyers, the Caeser-Class Star Destroyer designed around 0 BBY/ABY (Before the Battle of Yavin/After the Battle of Yavin) as a replacement for the Imperial I/II series. Though shorter in length, the Caeser-Class was similar in size to the Imperial I/II series and boasted equal if not superior fire power. It required less crew men to operate, but help an entire Legion of Stormtroopers compared to the Imperial I/II 9,000 Stormtroopers. This large number of trooper would have granted the Caser-Class the ability to effectively control entire systems easily. The Caeser-Class did use a large number of recycled sub-systems from the Imperil I/II series, such as the ship's hull plating, engines, and even it's reactor, though on the Ceaser-Class the reactor was deep within the hull giving it extra protection as is the main bridge, effectively eliminating two high valued, and exposed targets for Rebel forces.
The Caeser-Class was not placed into service as the destruction of the first Death Star required resources to be diverted from all walks of Imperial Life. The few Caeser-Class Star Destroyer prototypes were placed into service, though they numbered so few in numbers, and were never properly used their effectiveness wasn't very high. Never the less, at least 1 prototype survived till the end of the New Republic were the Resistance to destroy the First Order managed to grab it, and by using a large number of droids, and modifying many features to be automated, placed it into the Resistance Navy, though it was hopelessly outclassed by the First Orders own Star Destroyers.

It kinda reminds me of SpaceDock's solution to how to fix the Imperial Star Destroyer.

That'll be 150 million Imperial Credits per ship.
