Description Rakka from Haibane Renmei, one of my favorite series.

If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it! One of my favorite artists, Yoshitoshi ABe did the character design and created the original concept in a few books.

I'm sad he ended the series with the few episodes of anime, the animation did not do his concept art justice.

How in the world do you get your coloring to look so dark and rustic, without it looking dirty? I've seen plenty of well-colored pictures, but there's always this look of like, their covered with dirt or something. And yet you can get yours to be so crisp and clean looking even with the very organic colors!

Thank you!! Color it very light and then tone it with different overlays, it breaks up the color and adds contrast

I was just thinking of that series when I saw this. The palette is very much in that Haibane Renmei sort of colour scheme. Nice.

Its the usual anime bullcrap, Yoshitoshi ABe stopped writing as soon as they capitalized on his idea, and it was such a cool idea too! So much could have been done with it!
