Description P.S. not CANONICALLY the first page...but the first time I ever made one of these.

From the journals of Professor Immanuel Linnaeus (belongs to ) in his travels around Cauldron, this journal shall detail the many curiosities he finds along the way! Perhaps with additional note cards he stuffs between the pages for when his journals aren't enough. XD

-----------------------------------------

NOTE CARDS:

"Jenny Haniver"
- When I met her at the edge of the Depth Kingdom, it was a momentous task to get her to tell me much of anything without dripping sarcasm. However, she told me to try "looking a little deeper underwater". Before I could ask her to elaborate what THAT meant, she pushed me into the water with her tentacle, and flew off. Frankly I hope we don't meet again.

- She slapped me on the back numerous times when making jokes. My back looks like I've been flogged. And because I was in the water and bleeding, not only did I get saltwater in the wounds, but I ended up immediately getting bitten by a Greater Ironing Board Shark (Stethacanthus productus)--their very small size (70 cm) doesn't mean the bite was painless! In hindsight, Jenny probably thinks this was funny.

Thanks a lot, Jenny.

-----------------------------------

Jack-Knife Cockatrice
- What a true oddity this animal is! For one thing, it truly makes for a bizarre reminder to realize that Cockatrices are highly derived Wyvern cousins. But perhaps even more incredible is how well they seem to remember that, as they take down large prey as a team by using their beaks as daggers.

- They're one of many Cockatrice species that DON'T have neurotoxic venom or seizure-inducing eye lights. Cockatrices in recent  years have been losing those abilities, due to the ones possessing them being overhunted. Sadly, natural selection is doing this because of us. It's quite tragic, really.

-------------------------------------

Shonies
- They appear to live on the outskirts of civilization--just close enough to get their booze, but far enough to still be in the wild. I'm quite curious at how they had come to be, as Elementals are normally quite averse to usage by people! Nonetheless, they are a fun lot to hang around with. They even helped heal some of my Jenny wounds.

- I almost forgot! One can tell what kind of beer a Shony likes to drink by its coloration! The ones I drew here were all rather light in color--two of them preferred lighter drinks, while one of them enjoyed a VERY strong pale ale.
