-Attentive: He will try to help where he is needed and won't leave anyone injured if he can help it.

-Kind: He is loving to most people if they are kind in return.

-Quiet ('till he knows ya): He usually keeps to himself, and just watches over people as they go about their lives.

-Loyal: He'll listen when he needs to and try to keep a level head so long as fire isn't in the way.

-Open minded: He listens to everyone's issues and is accepts that not everyone has his likes and dislikes so he's open to trying most anything.

Downsides to personality:

-Cautious: He wants to keep his friends and himself safe so he makes sure things are safe before he does them. He doesn't want anyone else to get hurt.

-Shy (only to people he's not sure of he's brave none the less): He's very shy to people he first meets, his mother told him not to talk to strangers but he still wants to make friends. That doesn't mean that he won't bash a few heads together if he needs to though.

History: James was born on a ranch and from birth stayed by his mothers side. He was never away from his mother unless their rider took her out on the trail. James' mother was very protective of her son and "saved" him countless times. She saved all the horses on the ranch at least once or twice. She was the bravest horse at the ranch. One day she saved James from a coyote who had sneaked into the stables late one night, and another night she saved him from breaking his leg by falling off a small ledge. He was still young and was only just learning to walk at the time and it was hard for his mother to keep track of him, since he was very adventurous. He was curious about everything in the world, he wanted to explore the entire ranch. One day though while he was in the barn, lying next to his mother asleep, he was startled awake by the horse in the stall next to his who was jumping and kicking wildly. A rattlesnake had gotten in his stable and was making a terrible rattling sound, hissing and trying to strike at the horse. James' mother got up and started kicking at the wall that separated the two horses until it started to collapse.

When the wall was broken enough for the male horse to get through he quickly made his way in. Standing next to James' mom he kicked his front feet up to scare the snake away, but it didn't work. Finally the ranch owner made his way to the stables and let the horses out but James was so scared that when he rushed to get out he accidentally pushed over their owner, and the lantern he was carrying broke on the barn floor setting fire to the hay and eventually the walls. The owner yelled to James' mother to help the other horses, so she quickly started opening the gates with her nose. The gates were only locked by wooden boards on the front of the gate that slid up. When the horses were all free she went back to get their owner but he was already gone. She whinnied and kicked at the fire distraught over loosing her owner, but when she heard a call from her son however she reluctantly turned to guide him and the other horses out of the barn.

The fire had grown rapidly and a couple horses were caught and didn't make it. James and his mother broke off from the scrambling horses, and were making their way off the ranch. Sadly though, James' legs weren't quite strong enough yet to carry him long distances gracefully. He tripped as his legs got tangled and fell face first into some mud. When his mother came to save him though, she got him free but a tree had fallen on her back end. She was trapped. James' waited for his mother to get up but she couldn't. She yelled at him to get away and to run but he wouldn't listen. He pushed his head against the thick oak tree to no avail. He walked to the front of his mother and cried.

"I can't do it mom!.. I'm not strong enough! What do I do?" He bubbled.

She pressed her head against his and smiled. "It's okay Jamey.. You just get off the ranch and get to safety." The tree had crushed her legs so even if she had managed to get out of the mud and tree she wouldn't even be able to walk.

"It's all my fault! Mom! I'm sorry mom!" He was going into hysterics calling her over and over', "I'm so sorry mom!"

The fire was growing closer. "James, sweetie, you have to go." She said pushing him away.

"But mom-!"

"James!" She yelled crying herself. "...I love you James." He saw the pain in her eyes, not from the tree, but in knowing she was leaving him. "Please go..." James shut his eyes and grit his teeth before turning and galloping a few steps before stopping to look back at his mother who thought he was gone. She was struggling to get free of the tree and crying. For once in her life she was scared. She yelled out trying to muster up her strength. James watched his mother for a moment longer before the flames reached her hooves then finally turned and ran. He heard her screams, and they echo in his memory to this day. He still blames himself. He was found lying in a field a few days later skinny from hunger, and was taken to a nearby ranch in the neighboring town called Pawsville.
