supposedly, he invented it to help with the mining but when he found out it was being used to hurt people he made the peace prize out of his guilt.

His whole family were merchants of death in their day... owned naval mine and torpedo factories, invented various other ways to kill people and had other businesses which produced products already known to kill folk (He if I recall, worked for Bofors and actually improved their weapon production heh). He himself was probably the biggest of them all though with the invention of dynamite which was used to kill people in larger quantities than before. And the whole Peace Prize thing was set up in his Last Will and Testament with his money, the foundation based around it came up with the whole peace prize concept, he really didn't do much of that himself - considering he was dead well before 1901 when the first 'peace' prize was given out.

Lol I actually just finished a project on Nobel and his explosives. He didn't actually create the prize, either. He asked for it to be created in his Last Will and Testament.
Funny old world, ain't it?

When our class was learning about the Nobel Peace Prizes we found it pretty funny that he invented dynamite.

knew this, but very nice anyways.
love the way this is configured, and a very interesting project. art and education often walk together, and you have a beautiful way of portraying that

Dynamite has a lot of peaceful applications, too. <3
Construction would be pretty hard without explosives.
