easiest way to do something like that is
xara and photoshop and about 30 mins
oh oh, and a vector program at begining, illustrator or corel
make the vector shape, import in xara, extrude, export as psd, color it in photoshop and u`re done

Illustrator can handle a simple 3D shape like that. And, for final retouch use Photoshop. (my own method). Wish it help
