(a letter from Prof Goldinger to the University of Elfinton)

Greetings to you Dean. Wormwood

It has been many years since we last met, and I am glad to inform you that my research has been progressing at a phenomenal rate ever since I set foot on the northern land of our beloved ELFLAND.

This northern frontier of our Empire is rather peculiar to us civilzed people from Cauldron, the Greatest City in Elfland. Here, they are rustic and ignorant...they called themselves "Drifters", "Cattle-Rustlers" and even "Patriots" but their service lie not with the Empire but with the great plains and open range of the Great Northern Plains. I have made acquintance of an honest miller and his wife, who confessed to me of having the most peculiar son. This strange son is none of our own kind, he is neither a Gremlin nor a native Korrigan Indian, his fair feature is so like ours, that I half-believed he was as ELFISH as his step-sister (A sweet little lass named Isabelle). But I later discerned that he was in fact, a HUMAN....a changeling from the world above.

A human, Edward!! he is only the SECOND changeling to be found anywhere in the history of Elfland and Elfish lore!! this could be our fortune. Fame, Wealth and Recognition shall be ours if we somehow managed to obtain this precious creature!
