Description
Another tribute painting to Wizard's: Magic the Gathering. Inspired by the planechase set (which doesn't get enough love imo) and one of my all time fav cards; Damnation.Threw some dragons in there to get vaporized for dramatic effect xD

While this very much works for a fantasy setting, and is a really cool piece regardless, the first thing I think of when I see it is not magic but the ruins of a sci-fi precursor civilization, probably because of the extremely smooth lines on the rhoboids' edges coupled with the circuit-board-like texture on the faces. Makes me think of some VERY similar obelisk structures in the background of Maridia in Super Metroid.

I love mtg. I love Your style. Its more like traditional painting, very organic and always whit the cool mood. I'm not a fan of super realistic , photo style of painting. Its not a painting any more. You rock

hah my thoughts exactly! I love the more rough look where you can still see all the little mistakes, repaints and sketches. Trying to mimic that real life texture feal. Always nice to hear it reads well to someone

hehe thanks. And yeah, Zendikar is one of the most characteristic ones to paint; well now maybe innistrad as well.. Maybe I should do a planechase innistrad one? The only thing is that innistrad kinda looks like any other fantasy setting (van Helsing etc.) which makes it a little less unique. Ah well

Zendikar and Mirrodin imo. Sadly Innistrad isn't as unique as other ones, but
with a focus on classical horror and dark ages they probably done their best to
give it a cool look ^^
Have you ever tried to do sth to Mirrodin? The phyrexian fraction (especially red and white) has some really cool designs going on. I recently found a bunch of fanmade stuff that was so good, that I was convinced it was really printed.

It's the zendikar world, so actually it is. But if according to you painting the same topic twice is an inspiration rip I imagine you'll find little satisfying artwork out there.

Ah, I misunderstood you completely then - but yeah, I do agree you need some inspiration rip on topic; it's hard not to really since almost everything has been done before. The key is to give your own spin and flavor to sometimes older and often used topics I guess. This one I just loved doing because I really like Magic TCG
