I love the expression of the kitteh - it's like, "mehhhh*flopflopflop*" It's adorable :3 And you got the cat in such detail, too; lucky it didn't move. Cats are incredibly difficult, IMO, to catch on camera. XD

tjuh In reply to AnnamaeTezuka [2010-11-20 17:07:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, this was a special case. You see, normally this kitty doesn't stay still at all, but rushes from person to person to get more cuddles! I was so surprised when he flopped down there and looked plain bored!

AnnamaeTezuka In reply to tjuh [2010-11-20 17:22:58 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha I wish my kitteh would do that. She's so hard to take a picture of but she's got such pretty colors She's a tortoiseshell and reminds us a LOT of my first cat, who was a tabby-tortoiseshell...same colors but my first cat was more orange and light and this one is more dark.

Oh, I just want to pet him/her so bad, no matter how grouchy he/she looks right now~

OH. MY. GOODNESS. IS. THAT. MY. GUINEA. PIG. TAILS?!

SHE PUTS HER HEAD DOWN JUST LIKE THAT ALL THE TIMEEEE, WITH THAT EXPRESSION ON HER FACE! IT'S THE MOST ADORABLE-IST THING!!! AND SEOMTIMES I MAKE HER DO IT BESIDE ME, IT'S SO WONDERFUL!!! AHHH THAT IS BEAUTIFUL, MY FAVOURITE PICTURE OF MJAU EVER! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!

JEG ET OVER OPPHISSER!!! (did I spell that right?)
AHH JUST LIKE MY SWEET LITTLEST TAILSS!!!

AND SHE SQUINTS HER EYES JUST LIKE HIM, WITH HER WHISKERS SPLAYED ABOUT JUST LIKE HIM, AND THAT EXPRESSION JUST LIKE HER! You can't see her mouth at alll, her nose is all you see, JUST LIKE HIS. AH HE'S SO ADORABLEEE!!! My girl's ears aren't at the top of her head and pointed like him though, so that's different, but it's none-the-less sΓΈt! (mixing my Norwegian and English up XD, I do that with Chinese too...)

You can even see his eyebrow furs! And all the details, it looks like the wind is blowing back all his fur the way you can see the face shape so clearly~ He is definitely the cutest cat~

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-21 19:42:34 +0000 UTC]

Awwh, your Tails sounds cuter and cuter all the time ^^ You have to scratch her a little for me!

As for your Norwegian there, you're still mixing "et" and "er", unless it was a typo. As you know, "er" is "be", and it would be more natural to just say "opphisset", as "over" isn't really used in this particular combination. So "jeg er opphisset" would do, though that really sounds more like you are angry, or sexually aroused At the moment, I am having trouble thinking of a more suitable choice of words, though I suppose you could just say "jeg er sΓ₯ engasjert" (I am so enthusiastic) - and I'd say enthusiastic generally is a very good word to help describe you

Mjau was particularly eager to cuddle this day. He came running when I walked past, and wanted scratches everywhere, and of course climbed up on my lap and purred like crazy. When I tried to walk away from him, he actually ran after me meowing loudly, demanding more cuddles! How could I say no?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-22 02:10:12 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha I think she's tired of getting scratched so much, every time I see her she tries to run away a little, she knows i'm going to pet her!

Ahh! I am getting my et and er mixed up! 'er' is 'be', and 'et' would be 'is' then right? Hahaha, that's strange XD. I was thinking of 'overly' except I couldn't find 'overly' in the pocketbook, so I just used 'over'. Haha yes, I was quite enthusiastic~

HAHAHAHAHA DID HE REALLY?! That is the most adorable-ist thing I've ever seen! He definitely recognizes you then Awhh, I bet you must be really great with cats~

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-22 17:09:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, then you'll just have to corner her and tell her that this particular pet isn't really from you, then she'll have to put up with it anyway XD

"Er" is a verb, and "et" is an article. You have this "I am, you are, he/she/it is"- stuff, but we use "er" for everything. And "et" is, as I said, just an article. So you say "han er" (he is), "et tre" (a tree), and "han er et tre" (he is a tree). Does that make any sense at all?

And yes, he really did. It was so cute I really love that cat. He's always purring, and always ready for cuddles. Practically all the other cats I've met are quite arrogant, and will have this "oh well, you may pet me just a little, but I really don't have much time for you"-attitude, but Mjau is completely different from that. He's all like "there you are! I've been waiting for you to come along and cuddle me - now do a good job around the ears there!". It's so awesome

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-24 20:20:35 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha I'm going to have to bathe her next week and she HATES it! She gets so scared and snuggles against me because she knows I'll protect her~ (Although water really isn't that dangerous unless there's a flood. She's not that bright)

Yep, I think so. Articles are things like 'a, an, the' right? So it makes more sense now! I WILL PRACTICE!

HAHAHAHAHAHA, That is sooo adorable! I want to have a Mjau T_T, you're so luckkkyyyy Tjuh!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-24 21:47:08 +0000 UTC]

Aww, poor Tails! It may very well seem like a flood to her, she's not that big after all

Yeah, you have the indefinite articles "a" and "an", and the definite article "the". We have the indefinite articles "en, ei, et", that signifies the gender of the word, such as "en stol" (a chair) (masculine), "ei jente" (a girl) (feminine) and "et fly" (a plane) (neuter). While we don't use any such definite article as you do. For instance, you'd say "the chair" while we just stick an ending to it to indicate that it is the definite form of the word (such as "stolen", "jenta" and "flyet").

If you're ever going to have a cat, I'd say it's a good idea to look for one with a personality similar to Mjau's. He's really a marvelous cat ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-24 22:38:08 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, yes, even though it only goes up to her ankles, that whee little girl!

Ohhh I see, I think. So feminine terms ha an '-a' ending to form the definite, masculine terms have '-en' and neuteral terms have an '-et' to the end. But sometimes you have an '-r' at the end of a term, I think it was something to do with making it definite as well?

Hahaha yes! I loveee Siamese cats, they're my very favourite, so if I ever get one, that's my cat!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-25 16:53:41 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that's right, though the feminine can actually also end in -en. But stick to the -a and you should be safe enough ^^ Do you have any specific examples of this -r? I've been thinking about it all day, and I can't seem to find any examples myself of what you might be thinking of

I generally just want dogs anyway, but if I should ever want a cat I could never have a siamese. I just think of Lady and the Tramp, and this siamese scene -> [link]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-26 02:18:23 +0000 UTC]

Such confusing endings! Um, for elske, that's 'love', and I think esker is a more definite form for love?

Awh, poor Siamese, they've been given a bad name! I remember loving the Lady and the Tramp (mainly because I love dogs XD), but I only remember when you first see the Tramp and when the two of them are eating spaghetti!
The siamese cats were the first breed I knew (thanks to a cartoon called Sagwa the Siamese Cat) so I instantly fell in love with them. That's probably how it happened with Siberian Huskies.
AHHH I WANT ONE SO BADLY T_T. I refuse to have any other dog, I want a Siberian Huskyyyy!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-26 11:28:22 +0000 UTC]

Aha, so it is the verbs you are thinking of! That just has to do with tense; "Γ₯ elske" goes like "Γ₯ elske - elsker - elsket - (har) elsket". So "elsker" is the present tense of it

The spaghetti scene is definitely the most famous one though, so it's not very surprising that you remember that one I'm sure you'll get your husky one day - and when you do I expect to see a lot of pictures of it ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-28 20:43:55 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh I see! I forgot verbs and nouns were different. Okay, so using the genders such as 'et', 'en', and the other one (I have forgotten, but I think it's in the pocketbooklet you've given me!) are for nouns if you want to use an article righT? And then '-r' endings and '-et' endings are tenses for verbs then?

I WILL! My husky will be the subject of my love and camera!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-28 21:46:57 +0000 UTC]

"En", "ei" and "et" are the articles, yes, when you use the generic terms. And correctly, the verbs can take on "-r" and "-et" endings, depending on the tense

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-28 23:32:46 +0000 UTC]

Is '-r' for present tense and '-et' for past tense?
Okay, and '-en'/'-a', '-ei', and '-et' put together with a word is usually placed at the end of the word depending of their gender right?

I THINK I UNDERSTAND NORWEGIAN GRAMMAR NOW!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-29 11:35:52 +0000 UTC]

It seems you're getting the nouns ^^ Use of the article when you're just talking about a general thing, and you use the ending, not the article, when you have a specific something in mind

The verbs can be more tricky, I suppose. You have the words such as "elske" that goes "Γ₯ elske - elsker - elsket - har elsket" and similar "hoppe" (jump) that goes "Γ₯ hoppe, hopper, hoppet - har hoppet" - and several more like them. But of course, there are others that follow a different pattern. This can be "Γ₯ vΓ¦re" (to be) "Γ₯ vΓ¦re - er - var - har vΓ¦rt" or "Γ₯ smile" (to smile) "Γ₯ smile - smiler - smilte - har smilt" .. So I'm afraid there isn't just one pattern of endings to use

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-06-29 23:22:34 +0000 UTC]

HAHAHA I UNDERSTAND NOW! I imagine for most sentences, it would be an ending right?

Noo, more complications XD! Actually, I think the pocketbooklet tells you the special verbs that have those different endings, so I'll have to refer to that then!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-06-30 22:12:59 +0000 UTC]

It's really quite impossible to tell what's used in most sentences, as the sentences totally depend on what you're speaking of

Does it? Well, if it does then that's really neat ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-07-01 05:48:13 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, Norwegian! It's sort of fun learning a whole new language (and taking bits of what I learned from french class all those years ago). It's like...learning math all over again, but not math!

Yep, the pocketbook also provides how to read the time, money, and other things! It's really amazing and neat! The one thing I wish it had though was Norwegian pronouciations!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-07-01 15:44:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, if they had provided pronunciation, you would still have to know a bit of how we pronounce things for it to help at all - so it's really quite logical that they haven't provided that in such a basic pocketbook, I suppose

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-07-02 00:05:48 +0000 UTC]

Haha that's true. They have provided pronouciation for English words though! It's actually quite neat to try and decipher it!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tjuh In reply to leayana [2010-07-02 08:07:31 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps it would have been the other way around if the book was bought in an English speaking country, though. After all, that book is from Norway, and here we know how to pronounce those word, but might need more help with the English ones

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

leayana In reply to tjuh [2010-07-02 21:24:35 +0000 UTC]
