Description
Atsuo and Yukiko have begun their life as rogue shinobi after leaving Heartshrine Village. This scene is early on in their travels after Yukiko removed her purple hair dye and had her hair cut short. They decided that Atsuo could keep his hair the same way because it was already fairly generic and there really wasn't much they could do to change it. For now, his disguise is simply not wearing his flower shirt.

Originally I wanted to have them in the woods sitting up against a tree but I just couldn't seem to get it right... Then for giggles I did this random minimalist night sky background and found I actually really liked it. Kind of emphasizes how they really only have each other now that they've left their homes behind.

Also, since most of my work has some sort of theme song to accompany it, I was listening to "Frosthvarv" by Hamferð. I'm actually not entirely sure what the lyrics are since the band is from the Faroe Islands and the song is not in English... But the sense of doom Hamferð creates within a generally peaceful song really parallels Yukiko and Atsuo's situation since their love, marriage, and life together are undercut by the dark circumstances that led them to where they are now. Quite frankly though, I had never even heard of the Faroe Islands until I looked these guys up, nor their genre which -for good reason- is called "Faroese Doom Metal". After listening to some of their other stuff, I very quickly became a fan and I would recommend giving them a listen.
