Description

While routine maintenance and cable inspection is performed, the two tram cars are parked at and near one of the support towers. This particular tower in this shot was built using a helicopter, since there is no road access to it, nor could the heavy materials be carried up the rocky escarpment. There's a bit of the northeast edge of Albuquerque just beyond. There is a 15-min, 2.7-mile ascent on this Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway to the 10,378-foot peak of the Sandia Mountains. On top, the view is of a panorama of more than 11,000 square miles. I like this particular shot, because, not only can you see both tram cars and a support tower, but the cables are also sharply visible by zooming in to the foreground.
