Description This one will take a little explaining, dear viewer. Basically, there’s a Far Cry AU I enjoy where Bhadra survives whatever fate Amita ‘sent her away’ to and returned years later to lead her own rebellion against Amita. Basically, the character profiled below is one of Bhadra’s top commanders in that AU.

Name: Commander Durmada Laghari

Status: Alive

Age: 38

Date Of Birth: June 20, 1982

Birthplace: Banapur, Kyrat

Nationality: Kyrati

Religion: Kyrat’s Sect of Hindu

Hair Colour: Black

Eye Colour: Hazel

Alias(es): none

Affiliation: Bhadra’s Rebels

Profession: Rebel commander, Formerly a handyman

Relatives: Aaloka (Wife), Sadhika (Daughter), Mayra (Daughter), Bodhi (Son).

Background: Growing up in the troubled nation of Kyrat, Durmada, like many Kyrati citizens had little interest in taking one side or another and simply wanted to live as quiet and peaceful a life as possible. When Ajay Ghale arrived in Banapur, Durmada had mostly succeeded in staying out of the troubles and was living a simple life as a handyman with his pregnant wife and children. He was also a devote believer in Kyra and as such already held Bhadra in high regard as Tarun Matara.
When the Royal Army attacked and nearly destroyed Banapur, Durmada was nearly killed in the crossfire and witnessed Ajay’s rescue of Bhadra from the burning community center. Afterward, while he still didn’t see himself as a fighter, the handyman began to support the Golden Path, lending them his services repairing vehicles, helping to build defenses, and the like.
Things would take a dark turn for Durmada several months later when, mere days after the Royal Army’s defeat, Amita ordered that every child in Banapur, Tirtha, and Utkarsh were to be taken and effectively enslaved to work her newfound drug fields. When armed Golden Path fighters came to take his daughters, Sadhika (10) and Mayra (7), Durmada tried to stop them and was shot in the shoulder. After the girls where taken, Durmada himself was taken to Durgesh Prison. For the next six years, a broken Durmada, like hundreds of other broken Kyratis, toiled away in the frozen, high mountain prison and forced labor camp.
Just as he was beginning to contemplate suicide, Durmada’s fortunes changed. Bhadra, having finally returned to her homeland and infiltrated the prison, intending to break out as many prisoners as possible as the opening salvo of her revolution. Immediately recognizing the long lost Tarun Matara, Durmada at first thought he’d finally gone insane. Once he realized she was in fact real, the former handyman was quick to pledge himself to Bhadra and assisted her in planning and organized the uprising.
Following the brutal Durgesh Uprising, Bhadra, Durmada, and around forty prisoners escaped into the mountains. Impressed and grateful for his aid, Bhadra appointed Durmada as her second-in-command and he would continue to follow her faithfully as the Tarun Matara liberated her homeland one small piece at a time.

Personality And Traits: Before Amita’s takeover of Kyrat, Durmada was a simple man with a good sense of humor, known and respected by many of the townsfolk. Following his experiences in Durgesh and the loss of his family, he is now taciturn, serious, and determined. At times, albeit in a melancholy way, he reminisces about his old life. He has a lot of compassion for people caught up in the conflict, but is bitter and vindictive toward Amita and her followers.

Appearance: Durmada is average Kyrati height and in fairly good shape, considering his years of malnutrition and other abuses in Durgesh. He keeps his hair trimmed almost to the point of being shaved and shaves his facial hair, a habit he picked up in prison to avoid lice. Like most of Bhadra’s rebels, Durmada generally dresses in camouflage. He is known for the slightly vacant look in his eyes.

Equipment: Durmada generally uses an AK-47 in combat, as well as a knife and pistol.

Relationships: Aaloka and Bodhi-Although theirs was an arranged marriage, Aaloka and Durmada loved each other dearly. However, following Durmada’s imprisonment and her daughters’ enslavement a broken, and pregnant, Aaloka fled Kyrat to India. Believing she’d never see her family again, she eventually married an Indian businessman. Durmada has never met his son Bodhi.
Sadhika and Mayra-Durmada and his daughters were very close before Amita took control of Kyrat. Shortly after arriving in the drug fields, the sisters and most of their fellow child slaves were forcibly made addicted to opium so they couldn’t escape.
Bhadra-Durmada had great reverence and loyalty for Bhadra, both because of her status as Tarun Matara and for her efforts to liberate Kyrat.
Ajay-Among the rebels, Ajay tends to be either loved or hated. Fortunately for the Son of Mohan, Durmada leans to the love side, remembering how he’d saved Bhadra in Banapur, thus allowing her rebellion to happen. This led to Durmada saving Ajay from summary execution when he returned to Kyrat.

Trivia: Durmada laments that he’ll never again have the quiet, simple life he once sought in Banapur.
Nearly starved to death in Durgesh because he refused to eat rats or resort to cannibalism.
