Description this is me trying to be one of those hip, legit anime artists. sadly, i have neither the culture nor the talent.
Odd summer girl, looking out of place in paradise in her satin dress?

she lost her hat and is v. sad, so she will sniff intoxicating flowers.

this was a most enjoyable oekakis, i think it's probably my best so far.
done on paintbbs around 4~5 hours

Beautiful! I'm listening to the instrumental version of 'stranger in paradise' and the song fits perfectly! Very well done!

Is the title a reference to terry moore's comic? I ask because the girl even kind'a looks like Katchoo, one of my favorite comics characters ever.

Oh, man. What are the odds? Feel free to check those books out. Terry Moore is a great cartoonist and an even better story teller. I would go with the second book to get started-as the first is a little too silly and therefore possibly misleading...Anyway, if you do check them out, let me know what you thought.

That background looks -gorgeous-... So many details and such a lovely sense of lighting! I almost wish it were bigger so we could appreciate the details, but I imagine you did it at this size. Nice texture overlying the image, too, and I love the girl's shoulders and torso shape. Lovely work, as always.

Very pretty! Her is just lovely and the slope of her shoulders looks so natural!
Can I ask though, what is oekaki? I've heard the word before - is it like an online art program/thing??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

toerning In reply to CanonFodder [2006-07-06 02:29:06 +0000 UTC]

OMG OEKAKI IS MY LIFE
sorry.
oekaki is just a catch-all term for several "applets" which are basically mini digital art programs. you post them directly at a board, which is just one big community, and then people leave comments and stuff, and you have your own little profile and bla bla bla.
it's like a combination between photoshop and devart. all the good stuff.

here are two of my favourite boards, where i draw the most:
[link] OekakiCentral
and [link] Ochiba, where i did this one.
RUN WILD!!!!

*grin* breathe......

They do look interesting! I'm going to have to get myself a tablet sometime & when I do I'll give it a go (I don't think my mouse skills could cope!!)

toerning In reply to CanonFodder [2006-07-06 16:06:18 +0000 UTC]

i dunno a lot of the people on oekaki simply work with a mouse, you kinda get used to it. i did for the majority of the things in my gallery (there.)
just a thought
