Description
A sort of Part II, if you will, to my old oekaki: [link]Same deal as with my piece of Hollis and Guin, just that i felt like it had a nice concept and was still getting attention for it but it was embarrassingly old and dated.
well lookit this, making an effort!!! I tried really hard to not go too far with this, i wanted it to just be a fun thing you know, without getting hella involved in the coloring, which is my usual downfall.

I love it! I immediately want to know the rest fo the story, and that's really what good art is about. Even just by titling it "friends" you make it more interesting because it removes (or at least alters) the initial romantic implications.

hmmm I know I used a tutorial I found on DA but I can't seem to find it now. There are many and more water surface tutorials, though. I think I just sorta looked at some and then used every single texture option on Photoshop I could find hahaha

Love how you drew the water, and that you went with drawing a merMAN/human GIRL, b/c that's not something you see often (usually it's either mermaid/human or merman/human man XD)
What kind of reference was used for drawing the body positions?

i love the way her hair wraps around her head! and the bubbles are fantastic. so realistic.

I love the realistic lines on the woman's hips/belly/ribs. A lot of times there is a tendency to idealize smooth flowing lines when drawing women, and this more realistic look adds a lot to the drawing.

I really enjoy this piece a lot! I love the expressions and the mood of it. I think you went just as far as was necessary, because there is a purity to the simple colors ad lighting. I have a very nice emotional response to this. Humf, I do have one question though and sorry to be a stickler but the Merman. Should his right hand thumb be towards the torso or away from it. When following the flow of the bodies that popped out to me. Tried to position my hand as such but couldn't get it to. Let me know if this is just me and please keep this amazing work coming.

I'm impressed you would look that closely- thanks for taking the time! You're very right about the hand positioning; this is QUITE an old piece, (3 years old) and there are many and more things that I would change about it haha, the hand being only one of them.
