Description
In Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja ”chooser of the slain”) is one of a host of female figures who decide which soldiers die in battle and which live. Selecting among half of those who die in battle (the other half go to the goddess Freyja’s afterlife fieldFólkvangr), the valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin.Related content

Vikings also believed ravens were Valkyries in a different form, I think because black wings and their connections between Odin. I think after a bloke is killed in battle and a Valkyrie picks him up, I think as a reward the Valkyrie takes him to Valhalla, obviously, and feeds him wine and mead and any alcohol really, and as a bonus also shags him for the rest of eternity... Pretty good deal for getting an axe to the head. Anyway, very nice, very nice indeed. Especially like how you did her helmet and hair.

Actually, I have read that Odin had 2 ravens which were essentially his eyes and ears on earth. I forgot their names though...
