You can check out Blender. It's free and its a very good app. Probably does better SSS than c4d.

I'm just tired of looking at the same old abstract images daily around here and I just want to take it to a different level(texture wise with sss, if you've heard of that.
And no I didnt take it the wrong way, lol...I was more curious of ppl's opinions on it actually, and it seemed to of made a preety good impact.

Pretty cool... makes me think of the amazon, where the trees hang into the water and the roots droop down into the water. It's easier to see in my head, than to describe though, obviously.

the model itself is decent, but I think the material completely kills the advanced look to it, it makes the model as a whole seem very basic

What do you mean kills it? lol I guess your new to 3d, and have no idea how time consuming and how difficult sss can be to achieve. It's not really a texture, but a "material" using SSS, if you've heard of that.
The modeling=yawn, anyone can make a abstract shape, but what comes after. I tend to lean on my lighting, and thats what I consider to be the real work, along with animating the particles to get the background and smoke effects, along with preety much whatever I want to do. I dont use brushing in photoshop for those things. But if you say it kills it then so be it.

I like the flow of the image, but the green at the bottom centre sort of puts you off whilst looking down the image. It's possibly the change of cyan to green that leads the eyes off.
But the rest of the image has a nice and frequent flow to it - begging for more to be seen.

Looks to me like this big plant/crystal/castle thingy, with a mysterious cavelike entrance at the bottom.
