Red Raven + Northwind

Nor'Dania is the hero known as Redwind, who was active in the early eighties... though her origin started well before that, in World War 2.

Nor’Dania’s father, was an archeologist named Carter Raven and her mother was named Vera Osoro. Osoro was an Aerian, born in Feith Shalann, a mountainous realm hidden behind mists in the Mountains of Eastern Africa. Carter Raven crashed his small plane in the Simien Mountains during an unusual storm. When he awoke, injured badly, he found himself amongst the bird people. Thinking him crippled, the Aerians fashioned a pair of Red artificial wings for him, these looked a bit more bat-shaped than the Aerian's natural wings. Carter stayed in Feith Shalann, his archeological curiosity about the lost culture of winged people who seemed to have some ties with the most powerful Egyptian Dynasties, but of course long ago separated from that empire. Eventually, however, he wanted to return to his own world. Feith Shalann was on the misty borders of Skartaris, more accurately in the Eternity Mountain Range of the Savaged Land, and it wasn’t just as easy as flying down from the mountains into Africa. In fact, when the Aerians fly down from their mountains, they actually wind up in Skartaris, not Africa in the outside world. However, eventually, he was able to find his way through the Mists of Time and leave Feith Shalann and return to his “Earth”…. Right at the start of World War 2. He joined the war with many other super beings on the side of the Allies, using his wings as Raven Man to aid the Justice Invaders Society. He promised his wife he would find his way back when he left, but he war made that very difficult. At the end of the war, many of the Justice Invaders were trapped in the Mists of Time by Glorious Loki, to fight Ragnarok over and over… but Carter was somewhat familiar with these mists, and was able to navigate them and find his way into Feith Shalann again. He had attempted to guide the Justice Invaders Society to freedom, but they became lost in the mists behind him and he could not find his way back to them. When he finally emerged into the Eternity Mountain Range, Osoro was very pleased to see him. But Carter, traumatized as he was by the war and the endless Ragnarok, was initially upset to see her, as she was pregnant and he had been gone for years. But, Osoro explained that he had been gone only a few months. The Mists of Time which surrounded Feith Shalann, were aptly named and caused time to move very strangely. Its relationship to the outside world’s time was not consistent (not like a month to every year with consistency) but seemed to change with the ebbs and flows of the mists.

In Feith Shalann, time moved in Carter's perception, with normalcy, though he had no idea what time was like outside the realm. When their daughter was born, they named her Nor’Dania. She had sandy blonde hair like her father, and reddish wings like her mother. Nor’Dania grew up listening to her father’s tales of wartime heroics, and imagined herself a superhero as well. She was able to find her way into the outside world and time had passed strangely again. It was the 80’s and she was able to find a group of young heroes in America she could join, descendants of other World War Two heroes that called themselves Champions, Inc. Because of the weirdness of time passing in Feith Shalann, Nor’Dania, calling herself RedWind was the youngest of the team, though her father was a World War 2 hero like there's were (and possibly, she was even conceived before them). After adventuring in the outside world for a few years, RedWind desired to return home. She has been a hero in Skartaris now for a while and is a frequent ally of Ka-Mandi, Warlord of Skartaris and Zakiru, his partner.

Meta-Backstory
Redwind is an amalgam of some pretty obscure heroes, Red Raven (Dania) and Northwind (Norda Cantrell). The name Nor'dania came together nicely in a portmanteu of Norda and Dania so that was fun. I don't really expect this character to resonate with many...but this is part of a larger project that I'm working on, and I'm just sharing some stuff as I happen to finish them. Thanks for Looking!
