Amanda Jones, now 18 years old, has graduated from St Hilda's school and is off backpacking for the summer. She'll be travelling through Europe by plane and train. This picture shows her with a short, somewhat untidy but manageable haircut and her backpacking outfit of a hoodie, crop top and finally the denim cut-offs that will become her staple. She's been inside all winter working hard to come top of the class (which of course she did) so she's packed a few pairs of tights, to cover up her pasty white legs until she can work up a sun tan. Amanda's intense period of study has meant that even her amateur detective career took a back seat recently. But, fear not, a bit of free time and a nose for danger means that she will be sleuthing her way across a whole new continent this summer!

This pic shows Amanda freshly arrived in on the right side of the Atlantic, waiting somewhere or other (a youth hostel? a bus station?) to meet her two travelling companions. I don't want to say any more about them at the moment, but I hope you are going to like them!

We're now opening up a previously unexplored period in Amanda's timeline, which is what she did in the summer between boarding school and University (where she blossomed into the version that we're most familiar with).

I will be running a story competition very soon to (hopefully) compile a set of mischievous scrapes with some truly dastardly villains. Anyone with ideas they may want to discuss in advance is welcome to drop me a note. Also, if you have any ideas for Amanda's travel itinerary, be sure to post below.
