Rite of Knowledge entry:  Dire Methods“So tell me more about this Sarah, what’s she like. What’s her tokota trained in, are they traditional?” I wanted to know everything I could about our our third companion before setting out. Dena had come up North with sarah after their first rite, but had split up due to size issues. Only for Sarah to rejoin our small group to complete our last rite. “She’s well. Young. Full of life and happy. And I wouldn’t say traditional, but she has little experience with the animals, to her it’s more like a pet, a horse-dog, than anything else. But her tokota is pretty well mannered and Cory seemed to get along well with her. Rite of Merit entry:  Fish BobbingIt was one of the moments where you showed up and hoped to God you hadn’t been played. I’d been looking through the directory on the Tokota’s website looking through the pretty pups when I found an ad looking for a fishing partner. Fishing? Simple enough. We’d planned it all out and now here i was. Standing on the end of the snow covered dock, petting Cory’s fur waiting for some person to arrive. It was pretty cold out and I checked my phone for what seemed the hundredth time. “You think she’ll show Cory? She seemed to have a good rep in the classifieds but she’s cutting it close.” Cory nuzzled the hand holding the phone chuffing and he pushed it back towards my pocket. I was putting it back in my pocket when he sat up and looked back. Coming down the trail was a grey tokota, with a petite woman atop of him, running at us at full speed. “Sorry!” the woman called to us as she stopped her tokota, kicking up snow as she cli

Rite of fortitude entry:  Luck-ky BreakIt’s been a long time coming but we were back. And on a trip across the Arctic this time. Kyron had been prepared and along with us this time was an old friend, Dena. She’d brought along one of her males to help me keep my little boy under control on the long trek. Dena had met up with me and Kyron with Cornelius earlier this week to help us prepare for the journey. We were heading out in a couple hours and our rites were about to begin. “Alice, you sure we should take that route? Locals have been saying the mountains have been angry lately. Maybe we should take the Northern tundra trail instead?” Dena was right there, locals had been warning tourists about the mountains, and the regular trail guides weren’t going out, but we had a time limit. “I dunno, I really think we should follow the Southern pass. I used to pass through there all the time when I was little.” Dena didn’t seem too convinced but as we looked at the map it was obvious.
