Description
Clank...clank...clank...clank. Almost every five seconds you could hear steel being pounded by a hammer. A marvelous sound to hear in a small camp of soldiers. Blades, axes, armor all being made or fixed by black smiths. GEtting prepared for the next battle. It was dawn, the sun was appearing over the horrizon to the east. The camp was quiet except for the blacksmith, and a breese rolling through making chimes ring off from the tents. I wwas atop a hill over looking the camp ground. I was rather contempt. On my person I carried, a short sword, long sword on my back, three daggers for throwing, a dozen dust pouches, a sack with provisions for a week, a swordsmans field guide, and a alchemy book. I wore two kinds of armor. Leather underneath a thick chainmail and steel arm, leg, and torso pieces. Next to me was a helmate. It stood on the edges of the side plates. I picked it up in my hand. Underneath it was my greatest weapon. The dragons pendant. It glimmered as the sunlight landed on the surface. The green gem radiated a green glow. I picked it up and placed it in my provisions sack. closing it tightly after I placed it in. I placed my helmate upon my head and slowly started back into camp.
I reached the edge of the camp. A gaurd woke up from his nap and was startled as i wlked back in.
"Captain is that you?" the gaurd said startled, jumpping to his feet.
"Don't worry Lucio, just coming back from watchng the sunrise." I assured him.
"Sorry for my alarm sir." Lucio pleaded.
I struck a glance at him and huffed happily laughing in my head. I turned back forward and continued my return into camp. Other men started to wake up. You could hear their yawns exit their tents, and one by one hear voices in some tents chatting. I walked by a bigger tent stopping infront of it. I drew my long sword and placed the tip on the ground holding the hilt with both hands. A man walked out of the tent. He was bulky, with a big white beard, dark red and steel armor covering his body. It made him look even larger than normal. Another person walked out of the tent as well. A woman, she was thin and in the same kind of armor as the larger man but this was more for her body type than like the larger man. The Large one looked down upon me. I bowed to him and the woman. The woman came over to me and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"No need to bow at a berserker lord, Elysian. We're brutal savages after all." She said in a clam manner.
"but" began the large man."In doing so, my respect towards you has increased." He said in a deep loud voice. I stood back up and greeted the large man.
"Thank you Lord Bartimus."
"Hahaha!" He bellowed."Why thank me? I almost killed your whole army by myself! But I will say you are one of the more respectful Knights I have been in contact with. So how about we get right down to buisness."He said in a serious manner.
Today was a day that the armies on my land and the army of Lord Bartimus, king of the berserker tribe of the west mountains, would make peace. I was a knight sent by my king to start the negotiations. The Berserker king waved me into his tent. The woman proceeded first then him second followed by myself.I reached into my provisions sack pulling out the dragons pendant. I placed it around my neck slowly not to have the King see. Inside the tent were al sorts of decorations. Skulls, skins of various animals, a throne made of stone and dragon bones. A fire pit was in the center with a small fire burning. Torches were also in the tent around the throne mostly. Lord Bartimus sat down on his throne. The woman went behind it and dissapeared from my sight.
"So Elysian, Knight of silverstone, shall we start with the first order of buisness?"Asked the King.
"Indeed sir."
"Well dont just stand there have a seat and start talking!" He ordered.
"Of course sir." i responded sitting down in a chair facing the king."First issue, the war between your people and the people of my country. It needs to end. And soon. With the fire of both our kinds burning compeating with each other we not only are dying on both sides, but the land we are fighting over is dying as well."
"I see your point. What are the terms you have for this issue."
"My king says that we should divide the land equaly so that both our kinds may have some part of the land."
"Absolutly not. You see Knight, our people have lived in this valley for centuries, my father ruled before me followed by his father follwed by his! There is no way Our people will ever take half the land my family has rightfully taken care of for generations! And if your king wants some of our land, he's going to have to fight me fore it!" He argued.
"My appologies."I began "Now if I was the king of Silverstone, i would let you keep your land, infact I would not have had the invasion to start with. But I am not the king, so my say has no voice to my king."
"You truely are an honerable knight, perhaps we can come to some agreement."
"Your terms are more valuable, you should decide."
"Lets say I give your king some land in my posesion. If i were to do so what would I get in return for it."
"Well the plans we have for the land we want is to make a small vilage town with a tower to mark a point where a beacon can be made incase of a assult on our people."
"An assult by who exactly?"He questioned with a mysterious tone.
"...The army of darkness..."I hesitated.
"BUHAHAHAA! That old legend? You have to be serious!"He laughed.
"You think this is some sort of joke! Every day you live do you not wonder about the other berserker tribes and how they are doing? What about the guilds of other races? Huh well guess what Lord Bartimus, your brother Andreus, King of the north tribe was found dead no more than eight months ago. Killed by a mysterious attack by an unknown foe. With further investigation we found the remains of a body unfamiliar to any of our field experts. Including myself. We looked for any possible clue to what it was but when we found it, it was in one of the oldest books in any archive. The elder of all tales myths and legends. The legend of the Dark army. The army of daemons and their ruler. The king of darkness. Dark Lord of the Abyss, Ozek."I explained.
"That legend is only a legend. The book of the ancients is full of legends that were recorded way beyond our kinds. How do I know your telling me the truth." He pondered deeply.
"Let me ask you, have you ever heard of the Dragons Pendant?"
"I most certainly have, but that too is also a myth."
"Well Lord Bartimus did you know that Ozek is the creator of that pendant?"
"Yes. But I dont see why..."He stopped. I pulled the necklace off my neck and presented it to him. He looked startled by this and was on the edge of his throne, grasping the arm rests with force. You could hear the bones on them begin to crack. The Berserker lord was scared. He reached out shaking I held out the pendant to him and he touched it with his pointer finger. "This... can't be...I..."He shockingly hesitated.
"this pendant is the only weapon that can destroy the dark lord. Which is why i need your full cooperation."
"Your terms knight."
"We need that land for our tower, and we need your assistance incase of any attack."
"Knight." He began. "If my brother is dead and you do indeed have proof that the dark lord is really here, then by the honor of my family and my people, you will have us be by your side."
