I have permission to post and share this edit with proper credit. If you use, please credit both myself AND bunnystick.

I usually "sign" my dolls with :WUK: but i figured since it was an edit, I should make a "bunnystick" stamp to put there aswell haha.

To my nondolling watchers: A signature is sometimes added so in case a doller saves the base but forgets to also save who made it, they still have a clue as to where to find the original link to provide proper base credit. snazzy huh? the signatures are of course removed as the doller uses the base and shares the finished product.

I can't get a grip on it. I've tried and tried so many times but I just can NOT figure it out!

I've went though so many pixel tutorials (which were helpful but not really all-inclusive) till i started also looking at painting and charcoal tutorials aswell. i practiced alot with markers and color pencils. By seeing how to manipulate it with different mediums, it made it easier to 'translate' it to pixel.

I try to follow the mindset of "Learn the Rules like a Pro, to break them like an Artist'

I've really been finding that in shading pixels and my sketches, it kind of... well, not kind of, it completely translates. I find that the more I work with both, the easier they both become solely because of each other.
That's a great idea, though. I hadn't thought about actually looking up tutorials for different mediums to give it a go. That's a great idea, thanks!

I really like that mindset. Improvement but originality, really. It's a great thing to strive for.

its my #1 advice for new artists struggling with their medium. look at others. read tutorials even if it doesnt pertain to your "style" or program

Man, I'm not even close to new at dolling, though, LOL! I've just never been consistent through the years (almost a decade now, WTF,) and have only really tried in the past year or two. I've significantly improved and I guess that's really all that counts.
I'm bad at that! Oh, it's tooling? It won't pertain to me. Ha. Well I'll start reading them, too. Thanks for the help!

hey, for the first 3 years of my "dolling" i spent it drawing on and making those terrible anime trace bases. somepeople would consider it wasted, but i learned a bit about linework from it.

read EVERYTHING. literally, everything. I read everything from "how to doll hair" to "how to manipulate photo zombies" and everything inbetween. even if the actual lesson doesnt help you, it trains your eyes to pick up trends

I wouldn't call it wasted - I'm pretty sure everyone came into it in a similar way.
That's a good idea. I've been on a fave-ing frenzy finding new tutorials.

I really appreciate the help, just so you know.
