Description NOTE!! This is a copy of an Aubrey Beardsley illustration. You see, we had this project in my drawing class where we had to pick an artist and do this project on them where we copied one of their drawings, and then do one of our own in their style. This was my copy. It's Merlin, and it originally appear in Le Morte D' Arthur. I'm normally not to good at copying things, but i like they way it turned out!

I love Beardsley and I love this. It was used for a book cover for Robert Nye's "Merlin", a very bawdy re-telling of the Arthur mythos from Merlin's perspective.

You're welcome for the fave, I love Beardsley and you did this so well. Can I ask what you use for inking?

For the inking i used just plain ol' Micron pens. I think i may have used sharpie on the bigger areas of black (hehe, it's a taboo, i know!)

it's apity that the cirlce isn't really a circle... but other than that, awesome work, especially on the details. I know how hard it is to copy pics, I s suck at it xD;

I think I'm also not very good at real geometrical shapes... dividers (? ...don't know how to call it english... the thing you draw circles with xD; ) and stencils are great inventions xD

i haven't read 'mort d'arthur' yet (only learned about it O_o). you know what? not a lot of people can copy off things nicely, and you are one of those few people who can do that and make it look pretty at the same time you did a good job with the pen and ink

Thank you very much, thats good to hear! I normally have a REALLY tough time copying things...(which is why i suck at realistic drawings, i can only draw from my head) and i was worried bout this one, but i'm glad it looks ok ^^
