Before Jadis became She-Cat, even before Tyler was given the monicker, way back in the late 30's a heroine emerged to fight the organized crime syndicates of Guardian City and the diabolical schemes of Nazi agent's trying to infiltrate and sabotage the U.S. infrastructure. That heroine was the original She-Cat, Abigail Lawson. Daughter of Lawson-Tech owner Cliff Lawson.

Abigail spent much of her youth traveling the globe to study abroad as well as accompany her father on business endeavors learning much of the aspects of the business from her dad. Abigail is well fluent in several languages including Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, German, and French as well as a variety of fighting techniques that include boxing, and martial arts such as Tai Kwan Do and Karate.

Since the mysterious death of her father Abigail has become head of Lawson-Tech, a company who develops such things as medicines, medical appliances, vaccines, and some private research. Abigail has used some of the experimental technologies (including gloves that are able to sheath and unsheathe catlike claws, a bullet proof mask to conceal her identity, and various other trinkets) to help her wage war against the criminal element that has placed Guardian City on edge.

In 1940 while visiting Angel Falls, she would aid Patrick Noir, Alexander Valiant, Ven D'Khan, and the Black Spider in a recovery mission of Amazonia from the evil dark lord Xeranad. Time to time since then she would aid in uncovering numerous enemy spy rings and help the United States in the war efforts from inside the United States. In 1946, it was Amazonia who recruited her as a member of the Protectors where she was often the voice of the Protectors as well as their Chief Computer Technician.
