Description Tommy Richardsen // Trichardsen // Facebook // 500px  // Google+ // Instagram

The area near Vássjá river close to the national mountain Stetind is jam packed with stunning mountains, fjords and rivers, anyone photographing in this area would have their hands full for quite some time.
Even though the autumns in northern Norway can be rather short it is absolutely beautiful when you get the autumn colors in the trees with such mountain sceneries.

The inspiration behind this image is Full sail from Ryan Farish, especiallty from 1:57 - 2:15 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=esz_Ns… )

Image captured in Tysfjorden, Nordland, Northern Norway.
Nikon D810, 135mm.

Thank you very much.

I don´t know if I have any better answer than I try to photograph the things that I really like and what instill some sort of emotion within.

Stunning! I love that you captured a soaring bird of some sort, close to the brightest part of the sunset (I assume) - the whole shot is simply gorgeous.

Thank you kindly.

Yes that is infact a seagull flying there, there is one more closer to the sun, but it is hardly visible on such a small size.

Thank you very much, glad you like it.
Ryan Farish has a lot of really good music, Full sail is one of his older ones, but that does not make it any less awesome.

If you are into nature I am sure you will love Norway, if you ever find your way here I would highly recommend visiting northern Norway, in the summer due to the midnight sun and autumn/winter for the Aurora borealis.

stars-water In reply to Trichardsen [2016-07-09 02:08:06 +0000 UTC]

Oooohhh man, I just looked up what a midnight sun was and holy cow I will definitely be keeping that in mind! *o* Visiting in the Winter for the auroras was definitely already on my list. Although I've never really seen one in person auroras are one of my favorite things in nature, so it's a priority bucket list item and as far as I am concerned nowhere short of Norway will do. That midnight sun deal just blew my mind a little bit though, haha. I've known that by the time you get to the poles day and night last something like half a year each, but I'd never imagined it would look like that.

As you probably figured out by now, I absolutely do love nature hahaha. One of my biggest dreams is to be able to travel the world so I can personally experience the many different amazing things nature has to offer. Thank you for adding one more thing to that list~

Trichardsen In reply to stars-water [2016-07-09 03:09:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it is quite spectacular in a kind of slow moving way.
Already in April the nights is becoming quite bright and you can see on the horizon the stronger light of the sun moving higher and higher on the sky.
18th of may is when we see the midnight sun the first time at 69º North and it last all the way until the 20th of July during which the sun never sets, but even after the 20th it is bright outside at night well into August and even at the end of August it does not get totally dark.
All year round I do most of my photography during night, in the summer cause of the midnight sun and winter cause of the Aurora, I absolutely love it, those quiet moments in nature alone with all kinds of beautiful light and landscape.

You know it is ok to come out of the closet and say you love nature, nobody will hold it against you.

I hope your dream will come true and I am sure you will have an awesome time realizing that dream.

stars-water In reply to Trichardsen [2016-07-10 02:47:59 +0000 UTC]

That's absolutely amazing. I look forward to seeing it! By the way, just for sheer curiosity's sake, how exactly do you manage to get any sleep when the sun is shining through the night? Are you just used to it, or do you have some really good blinds/curtains or something? Even with light-blocking curtains, I find it pretty hard to sleep during daylight so that's the one thing I really think could pose a big problem for me.

Hahaha. Oh, I'm so in the closet about it! ;b Nature is the best. -waves a little flag-

Thank you! I certainly hope so! That makes me kind of curious actually, and I hope this isn't too personal or something, but do you have some kind of a dream you're going for?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trichardsen In reply to stars-water [2016-07-10 06:47:15 +0000 UTC]

A lot of it is being used to it, but in another sense it makes less of a difference with the blue light persisting all through the night which tells the brain that it is daytime and melatonin production goes way down, so yes sleeping is an issue during summer.
Light blocking curtain is one good thing, but the very best thing is getting one of those blue light blocking sunglasses that gets rid of all the blue wavelenght you see and kicks of melatoning production making you sleepy, combine that with an app for mobile phone and a program for the computer that diminish the blue light it gives up and it is not a problem at all.

That is certainly what I would recommend to anyone not used to it.

I have a medical condition that prevents me from doing regular work and often I have to skip out on a photography trip due to it, but I do have a dream of making enough from photography so I can afford to travel some more, see even more beautiful nature, but in a way I am in a way already living the dream, but I would like it to be a little more comfortable.

Trichardsen In reply to solrighal [2016-07-08 20:56:27 +0000 UTC]

Appreciate that, thank you.

After I have learned a lot about how to use the camera and edit my images I have in the last year started to study light and colors, so my images now has generally a more balanced color theme than before.
Most often it is enough to reduce the strenght of a single color to balance an image, if you want to apply the same ideas, look at a color wheel and stick to using mostly complimentary and analogous colors, they general works best in photography.

solrighal In reply to Trichardsen [2016-07-09 09:14:28 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the tips. Since moving to the south of France a couple of weeks ago it's quite striking how different the light is here. Colours seem somehow deeper but it's difficult to capture it through the lens. I'll keep at it though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trichardsen In reply to solrighal [2016-07-10 06:48:59 +0000 UTC]

My pleasure.
Even with deeper and richer colors a very common mistake is to make all the colors the same strenght, most often it is enough to have 80% of the colors more muted and having 20% quite strong, it still give the impression of a very colorful image.
