Looks like a rising sun to me. Sort of.
It's quite fascinating to see. Though a lot of small things are fascinating when magnified.
I really like seeing the the substance of the juice isn't the same through the whole thing. Something only visible when it's magnified like this.
Haha, you wouldn't say this is natural.

Amazing photo (:

Thank you a whole lot!
I like how the substance shows too, this is one of those things I didn't even notice before I took the photo. Nice surprise for me .

What does 'reversed' mean and how did you get the focal lenght to 0mm?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TriinErg In reply to bitsofcolors [2011-01-15 10:40:06 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it just means that I take the lens off the camera and turn it the other way around and hold it in front of the camera like that. That's why it doesn't show the focal length - it's not attached to the camera.

Wow, very creative. Didn't know that was possible either, that's very interesting!

Yeah, I discovered it by accident but it turns out that a lot of people do it (there are even dA groups for it I think). You can also buy an adapter for reversed lenses .

brynisch In reply to TriinErg [2011-01-16 13:41:53 +0000 UTC]

I can't get the focus right... it's all blurry. That's a nice effect too, but I'd like to get some focus. How did you manage to get that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TriinErg In reply to brynisch [2011-01-16 17:43:39 +0000 UTC]

Is it ALL blurry? Reversing a 18-55 lens takes you very close so are you sure you're going close enough (changing the focal length and focus will give make a slight difference though)? Also when you do this then you have to live with a VERY narrow depth of focus. Very very narrow..

brynisch In reply to TriinErg [2011-01-16 18:49:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I found out I had to get VERY close to the subject^^ And yes, I saw that too.. It's like only a small stripe if focus..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

TriinErg In reply to brynisch [2011-01-17 20:18:38 +0000 UTC]

It's fun getting that close though

I agree.. though I'm sometimes scared I get too close^^

Didn't know that was possible. Gotta go try that myself^^

TriinErg In reply to brynisch [2011-01-15 17:44:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it doesn't work with all lenses though but try it out for sure!

It does go under macro nature, simply because it is water (I believe). Macro>nature is where I always look for droplet photos anyhow! You can always put anything under photography>misc as well...

Great tension on the water drop!
