Hawke began coughing uncontrollably and went scarlet to her ears, as Isabela broke into a fit of giggling."Wow, Hawke understood it immediately! Wasn't it a delightful story, Hawke?" wondered Merrill, looking at the still-flushed Hawke.
After fighting back the coughing fit, Hawke took a deep breath, stared directly at Isabela's wickedly grinning face and said, without a hint of emotion, "Delightful."

Actually it does look like bubbles, but it doesn't look like a lot of bubbles... hmm it seems there are more next to Isabela and only a couple next to Merrill while Hawke has none but looks uncomfortable.
Without reading anything, I thought this was a rendition of Shrek and Fiona in the swamp pit and then Shrek... then Fiona... and then the by-standing woodland creatures pass out.

Isabela and Merrill took a bath together and were almost done when Hawke joined them. I hope that pretty much explains the lack of bubbles on Hawkes part.
