I really love the art, and it shows exactly how some people (expectually girls) suffer because of what the world/their parents/their boy- and girlfriends want them to be. And they try to be this "beautyfull" one and give themselves up for this "beauty" which is in fact just a mirror for our sick society

"Perfection" is impossible; there is an Optimal but that's technical, with no bearing on culture.

truly heart-breaking, but it was the aim of your work. Your idea to represent the madness and the dangereousness of the pursuit of the absolute beauty is, in itself, beautiful.

No matter what people view you as, a person has intrinsic beauty just by being a person. There is something miraculous about the body and soul entertwined, existing here on this earth. I've never thought of anyone I've talked to as an ugly person, because getting to know them, they seem to become something more and those petty thoughts disappear.

Mirror, Mirror on the wall,
Who is obsessing all for gall?
Though one's beauty can be admired,
Why vainly seek a fleeting empire?
Forward messages that one may speak;
Living plainly, Loving and meek;
Living through some pain each day
But daily sweeping it all away.
Living simply so others can live,
Giving lovingly - There's so much to give.
Come out to play when it is time
Living in faith that you will be fine.
Fleeing from fear before it is near,
Holding on to love so dear.
But do not lie, It isn't true;
Love has so much more to do.

Actually I penned it, out of interest of Biblical stuff; It's based in Proverbs 31:30. Note I don't think the word "Fear" (as in "scared like in a nightmare") should be in the Biblical quote, more like "Revere".

The first verse is saying why strive for "Perfection" Which hurts - Worrying if everything "Is just right", etc.
The rest, Well, If you interpret it properly it's fine - Though the "Living in pain each day but daily sweeping it all away" part didn't say that pain should be a habit like having an obsession with crying just for crying without purpose without intention to be consoled.

Well depicted; "Beauty" Is fleeting. Proverbs 31:30. While a person strives for the impossible, Meanwhiledoes the person on the inside look skeletal?

One glance and your piece strikes a resounding message into anyone with half a brain. Perfect aesthetic beauty is a shallow and even destructive goal for women of all ages who are growing up in an increasingly distant and emotionally hollow society. When this goal is not achieved, you end up like the sketch above (in extreme scenarios -- worst case is you end up killing yourself). I love what you've portrayed here, and am currently favorite-ing it.Β
On a critique note, excellent lines, shading, texture, and accuracy in anatomy, plus your unique art style shines through in a subtle but realistic way. Very, very well done. Would suggest a little more accuracy in the angle perception of the background. Also, shouldn't some of her shadow be visible on the tiles/floor?Β
Hope this helps!

This Image just SCREAMS torment!Β
I love the details you put into this, the location of the girl and the mirror, very nice work! Based on how it shocked me and made me think, this is amazing.
But to all women, and men, beauty is on the INSIDE! And can be developed. You can be the most pretty model, but if only your cover is taken care of, and not your content, then you missed the meaning of beauty.
