Yes, they do...and they really do hover, which makes them relatively easy to photograph. Relatively...

What a great macro! I love the details and nice, clear color! What lens did you use?

This was taken with my Olympus Point and Shoot, which has a decent macro mode if the sun is shining nice and brightly.

That is wonderful! I doubt very much that I could get that kind of clarity with my Canon 350 Digital Rebel!

Actually, I believe it's the lens...an 85mm f1.2 prime. In just normal light, at any f stop from 1.2 to 3.5, the shutter speed is routinely from 3500 to 8000/second with good image results. It makes getting these kind of shots easier, although minimum focus distance is about 4 feet, which makes them more challenging. Everything is a trade-off, isn't it?

Yes, it sure is a trade-off. With my 75-300mm zoom, you can get closer than 10 feet, and that's pretty hard to do in many situations! But that is still a very cooperative and "fast" lens you have!!!

Thanks...someday I'll learn to be photographer enough to merit the equipment...until then, it's all fun!

Thank you. I was thinking of joining the macro club...is this the sort of image they want? (I notice that you're a member)
