Lighthouse and the ruins of the lightkeeper’s quarters on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay
In 1970 a fire destroyed the keepers' quarters, warden's house, and other buildings on the island.
This lighthouse replaces the original that was destroyed in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
It was built and first lit in 1909. This lighthouse is 84 feet (25 m) in height.
