Description Fantasy-comic strip without texts, page one. Inspired by lotr. Characters are from rpg (Middle-Earth Role Playing). Normal pencil and drawing ink were used. My dream is to complete this comic someday.

It is slow to draw like this, but at least it seems to be well detailed.

I would appreciate to receive some opinions if this "style" is suitable for comic strip (like if it is too "heavy" or complicated etc). This is of course a hobby, nothing serious.

Thank you, but I think for the comic it's maybe too messy after all (as you can see in the last panel).

I have made some simplified comics too, but it's 50/50 which style I like, because one is quick but requires more attention while drawing, another is slow to draw but with careful composition I can add much more details, "info" about characters and environment.

It naturally works better on single illustrations

Well I don't think it's messy at all !
And your drawingstyle reminds me of the drawing style of a friend of mine .

Great job!! All those details must have been a pain to do (and maybe took ages ) But anyways, I love everything here! It all looks so perfect

Thank you! Glad you liked this. And yes, it took about 5 hours to finish the model-version with pencil, and then i drew a new version with ink according to the pencil version. I dont even remember how long i spent time on that

It's not a easy task to draw a comic - i still prefer single pictures. I have even tried to draw manga-style comic, but it was a utter failure. That requires a great of sense of composition, not to mention how emotions and body language are in a big role. Someone can do it, like you do (O Meu Doce Amor), but i prefer to hide my character inside of helmets and armours...

Yes, comics can be a hard task, specially mangas But that doesn't mean one can't do it. Training is always the best and once one starts, it's not masterpieces that will come out in the begining. But training makes one improve, that's a thing to keep in mind Without training, I wouldn't be able to do half of what I do now

Hidding them inside helmets and armours is not going to rip expressions out of them. Just facial expressions, but there's the rest of the body to do the task

Very very good, as I said earlier very realistic and has a very medieval style love that.

Id love to work with people who draw like you, but alas I haven't met any where I live.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the super detail in comics, but I really think you make it work! The only reason why I don't like it is because it can become too busy very easily, so you have to be extra careful. I suggest that whatever you want to put more emphasis on, or bring more attention to, you should give some more contrast; for example, if you want to focus on a character, make the highlights on them more white so that the eye sees it first.

Either way, I think you're doing a great job so far, and it's SO GOOD that you love detailing this much! Too many people I know don't detail enough XD (like myself, haha)

Thank you, I appreciate your comment. As you said,

"...if you want to focus on a character, make the highlights on them..."

is a thing I should pay more attention to. It's like I draw shadows over shadows, and characters simply get lost to the background. A good tip!

You're welcome! I have the same problem when working with the white of the paper as highlights. There's always the option of adding white (i.e. white ink?, opaque white paint), but not adding white seems so much cooler...

I think it works very well in a comic - I rarely read comics, but if I do, I pick up something that is drawn well and detailed.

I just think the last panel is a bit confusing - it was hard to make out the shape of the archer at first.

Yep, you are right. I found myself more sketching than actually drawing in that panel, and i almost ruined it. There should have been characters in the backround but i had to hide them.

There are several drawbacks in my "style" to draw. I love to add more and more details and try to make every piece of armour or clothing look "natural". Secondly i want characters to carry a real amount of stuff with them (backpacks, weapons, you name it), and then i want to include every thing the character carries t every panel. But if you're not careful enough, it will be fuzzy and unpleasant to look.

And sometimes i just forget that i shoulnt just sketch.

Thank you for the comment!

There's nothing wrong with using a detailed style for a comic. It's just another option, that's all. And I think it looks good for this. It gives a lot of information about the characters and the world.
