Valentina is the protagonist in an Italian comic strip series created in 1965 by artist Guido Crepax and concluded in 1996. Originally, Valentina Rosselli was only a minor character, but she soon became the focus of the series. With looks inspired by actress Louise Brooks, Valentina is a Milanese photojournalist whose boyfriend, Phillip Rembrandt is the super-hero named Neutron who has the ability to paralyze people, animals or machines that he has seen in the flesh or pictures. During the course of the series, the two have a child named Mattia. Eventually, Crepax abandoned the fantasy-science fiction and detective themes and introduced a complex and strange mix of hallucinations, dreams and eroticism. The series was so popular that it was adapted into film and a television series
