Description

Spent some time yesterday evening doing some style practice with my friendo Art-Zealot! We were trying to figure out some specific color and lighting methods, and she's fabulous at lighting. It was very strange for me as I tend to do shadows before highlights, but this one was reversed, with the highlights first, and I think it worked pretty well!

Decided to use my boy Mier as a test dummy since he's pretty easy and fun to draw for me. XD

Also, come check me out on twitter  and/or instagram  if you'd like! Still working on filling those up with art, but there's some things on there that aren't in my DA gallery, as I'm more inclined to post sketches and the like over there than here.

AHAHAHAHA YOU'RE BACK! The first time I ever tried drawing and it came out nice was when I sketched the little chameleon creature in Sky Herder.

What do you find you learned the most with on it?

Well, it was interesting doing highlights first, as I usually do shadows first and lights second, but doing lights first made a lot of the shadows kind of unnecessary because it creates the illusion of having pretty strong shadows just from contrast alone. Also I had never touched the color balance layers before, but goodness now I'm asking myself why I never noticed it, it's so handy X'D

Oooh, good point. It reminds me of doing those light only/shadow only portraits in head drawing at school!

And I only just started using it recently, but it is truly a fantastic tool!
