Despite the ravages of the world in its entirety, Shinji couldn't help but feel that their piece of it was the worst. Information was restricted, rights stolen, and the people kept under lock and key in their own country. All in the name of a freedom that had ceased to exist for decades.

What made it worse was that the Japanese allowed it. It sickened him that for the façade of false security that people were willing to trade away what mattered most; freedom. It could have been prevented; it should have been. Instead, the government had taken advantage of desperation and the Japanese had fallen into a design that was terrible in its judgment, yet all of their own making.

As he typed on the laptop he had found, he decided that if people could easily put themselves down so far, then with some hard work they could hoist themselves out of the hole.

Or in his and Yutaka's case, blow a way out. At that moment, Shinji swore that if he and the other students made it out alive, he would personally find the creator of Apple Macintosh computers and kiss their feet.

But it wasn't just escape he was planning on. No, retribution was high on the list as well. It would be a small but satisfying blow to see the Battle Royale blow up in the government's face just once. The ruling powers had taken away his uncle and killed a friend of a friend, Yoshitoki, for bullshit reasons.

It was for that reason he was defying the powers that be and for that reason he had to keep it together; for his, Yutaka's, Shuya's, Yoshitoki's and all their sakes. He couldn't mess it up, at any costs.

Shinji paused in his typing and fingered his Beretta. It would be party time soon for Kitano and the rest of those pricks. He smiled at the thought of their faces when they were blown sky high and began to type again.
